Fiorentina manager Italiano praises Milan: “We did everything we had to do”

AC Milan clinched all three points in their encounter with Fiorentina last night, winning at Artemio Franchi for the first time since 2020-21. After the game, La Viola manager Vincenzo Italiano had some praise for the Rossoneri.

Milan played a very good game, both individually and tactically, and should have scored already in the first half. In the end, it didn’t matter as goals from Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Rafael Leao early in the second helped seal all three points.

After the game, as cited by MilanNews, Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Italiano spoke to the media and admitted that it has been a tough time for his players (due to the passing of Joe Barone). However, he also stated that his side did everything right, but Milan are in such good form.

“We did everything we had to do, we put Milan in difficulty, we even took a risk, we tried to equalise. We faced a team in great form and we responded blow for blow. I’m sorry because we wanted to obtain a positive result for the memory of our director, who will be missed by everyone. From a commitment point of view, the team was extraordinary,” he stated.

Milan will take on Lecce next (Saturday) and another strong performance will be needed. Inter are currently eleven points ahead and will be looking to restore the 14-point cushion tomorrow. Regardless, though, the Rossoneri must stay on par with the Nerazzurri result-wise.
