Francesco Camarda made his 20th appearance for AC Milan yesterday, including friendly games, and also scored his first goals for the senior team.
Since the 2023-24 season, when Camarda made his debut, the striker has been getting playing time here and there for the first team. However, although he came close against Club Brugge in the 2024-25 season, it wasn’t until yesterday that he scored his first goal(s).

Indeed, in his 20th appearance for the first team (including friendly games), he finally found the back of the net. It was a lovely penalty as well to kick things off, but you have to say that the second goal was even better, positioning both himself and the header perfectly.
Turning point for the youngster
The feeling is that these goals could represent a turning point for Camarda, having finally shown what he can do when provided with the right service. After all, everyone knows about his potential, but you need to score goals as a striker at the end of the day.
His words after the game certainly suggest that it’s a bit of a relief, even if he spoke with great maturity…
“I’m very happy because they were two great goals, especially the second. I thank Chukwueze, who served me a fantastic ball.
“This brace, however, is already a thing of the past: I’m someone who always thinks about the future, about what I have to do, because in football, what happened is quickly forgotten and what matters most is the present,” he said.
It has been reported that three Serie A clubs were keen on securing Camarda’s services on loan, so Milan certainly wouldn’t have struggled with finding a good solution on that front. That makes the decision to keep him even more significant, it has to be said.
Of course, given the arrival of Goncalo Ramos, it’s not like Amorim will ask the youngster to lead the frontline from start for the entire season. Instead, he wants him to be ready off the bench – just like yesterday – and in games when Ramos might need rest from start.
Camarda has proved before that he can keep up with the pace of Serie A, with smart movement and touches, and the loan spell at Lecce helped him grow a lot. However, as said, you need your strikers to score and he has now shown that he can do that too.
Hopefully we see more from him.
Celtic is a pretty decent side too.
Camarda needs consistent playing time – something that Milan hasn’t been able to afford him. Neither in the club, nor on loan. Ramos will always be first in the pecking order. That leaves the kid fighting for minutes in stead of consistently playing and developing.
He needs to prove himself in Serie B before getting serious time in Serie A, just like Pio Esposito did. He did not even manage to light Serie C up before going on loan to Lecce. It’s crazy management of this player.
