MP: How Fofana’s missed chance could have further united Milan dressing room

After his mistake in the first half yesterday, Youssouf Fofana has been a big focus, but AC Milan will group around him to ensure that he remains strong.

Football is a game of moments; sometimes you get on the right end of them and at other times, you don’t. Unfortunately for Milan and Fofana, last night’s opportunity in front of goal was one of those moments.

His miss clearly affected him on the pitch, and he was substituted by Massimiliano Allegri during the interval. An understandable decision, given he was clearly struggling after the mistake.

Closer together?

Earlier today, Niclas Fullkrug described that the dressing room was special, due to how close it was, and after last night’s game, they may become even closer, as a report from MilanPress suggests this evening.

The dressing room was already close to the midfielder, and there is a belief that, as a unit, this could bring them together more, as they help their teammate.

Already, Rafael Leao has made a few statements: one with his celebration to dedicate the goal to him, and the latter on his social media this afternoon. Christian Pulisic also aided him through the rest of the first half yesterday, proving the closeness of the group.

  1. Imagine how bad a player has to be in order for a dressing room to unite just to make him feel better. I am sure he is a nice guy but he is not AC Milan quality.

  2. It is possible to support the person and be critical of his play. I don’t wish him ill, but I don’t want to see him in the lineup either. He needs to pull a “Ted Lasso” and spend some time with a sports psychologist😀

  3. This draw or loss is on Allegri. Forfana has missed several tap-ins inside the box. Why can’t Allegri see this? He’s lousy in retaining or attacking , I don’t understand Allegri’s obsession with him.

    1. Im not of fofana myself but you can see the foundations of a good players, im not sure if its a mental block, loss of confidence, or lapses of focus. When he ishas his moments (very rare) he is a great runner, takler, passer, and gets in great positions. Like rlc he is either great or terrible, and can see their is something their i just dont know if he’ll be able find that form or to do it consistently to be a great player.

    2. So if allegri doesn’t have the back up players to succeed and it’s fault rather than the management who refuses to spend big?

  4. It’s just incredible how all of this was obvious almost from a day one and now it’s just compounded. He was never near ACM quality and it should be studied how he managed to stay in the line up for so long.

Have you all forgotten how last year excuses have dried up.

    1. More assists than any DM in Europe’s top leagues. He’s excellent at carrying the ball and driving the team forward, that’s why he plays.

      1. Stop repeating falsehoods. It doesn’t make them any truer. He only has 2 assists, whoopty do. That’s like one better than minimum. Let’s not act like he has a pile of assists. I don’t even know where that stat came from and why are repeating it.
Off the top of my head Kamara, who is at Villa and the DM we should have gotten instead, has 4 assists which immediately makes the Fofana assists statement false. And there are a bunch of other DM with more than 2 assists.

The latter part of your statement is true though. He does drive the ball and plays thru balls

  5. I think the problem is, fofana is not really a box to box like were using him. Last season he played his best games as a 6. I think he should be modrics deputy and give his spot to jeshari.
