AC Milan seem to have finally found a solution for Youssouf Fofana, who is heading for a return to Ligue 1.
Fofana is one of a few players that the Milan coach Ruben Amorim has decided is not a part of his plans, despite being a regular starter since joining from Monaco in the 2024 summer transfer window. So, a landing spot was being sought for the Frenchman, and now one might have been found.

According to what is being reported by MilanNews and Matteo Moretto, Milan and Lyon are currently finalising the details of what will be a loan with option to buy for Fofana. It was being reported as of Sunday that Galatasaray were the most concrete suitors for him, but that has now changed.
Contacts between the two clubs are ongoing to resolve the final details of the operation and close the deal. Fofana is thus close to leaving Milan in the final stages of the transfer window, with Lyon ready to welcome him back to Ligue 1.

Lyon are of course managed by Paulo Fonseca, who spent just a few months in charge of the Rossoneri. Under the Portuguese coach, Fofana operated mostly in a midfield double pivot alongside the more attacking Tijjani Reijnders.

It would be good news.
Only chickenhead Tomori, can start learning playing Texas holdem because he will be out of football for 1 long year.
If players are excluded for them best option is to – go.
Even Milan loaned many players like Nkunku, Santi, Ricci, Athekame, Odogu, and hopefully Fofana, so Milan will not have immediate impact of cash flow, players will have bigger chances to play in other clubs and evolve.
Milan saves chunk of money, 8 million on Nkunku, 4,5 on Gomenez, 4,5 on Ricci, and hopefully soon on Fofana.
They still are owned by Milan and all departures on buy option generate plusvalenzas. If they stay in future they will be quality back ups in next season, thats why exclusions of players should be seen as positive impact.
Than we have tomori. Small guy. But… we also had before origi, balo toure, bakayoko…. thay had many thing in common. That’s also ok.
How are things in Milanello lately? ๐ I knew you sounded familiar.
*at Milanello ๐
Us having to loan out so many players who supposed to be in the prime portion of their careers speaks volumes on the mismanagement of the club. We really shouldn’t be recruiting on top of that seeing as those loanees may come back and the players we’re now recruiting may have to suffer the same fate in a year or so as those going out
These guys couldn’t sell life vests on the Titanic.
I wish him the best. This is the best option for both. He will get more playing time and the Ligue 1 shows he still has some ambition in his career. Certainly more so than going to Turkey.
What ambition does someone who won’t play for PSG shows to have by going to the French league thats higher than going to Turkey?
Fofana won’t play for PSG?
Found the Leao fanboy. Write a sentence that makes sense. He’s going to Lyon.
Went over your head?
Let me draw a picture to you then.
Fofana is going to a league where we already know who will win the title and everyone else is fighting for the scraps. Where is the ambition there?
One of them is going to fight for the title in turkey and going as far as possible in the UCL, and what are Lyon’s ambitions this season?
Well, FYI, PSG lost in Trophee des Champion, and got 2 draw in two first league game
Reductive to the core. So nobody should go to Monaco, Lyon, Lille, om etc, is that what you are saying? Cancel the whole league? Cancel BL? PL and city, Serie A and juventus for a long time, Primera with r & b?
As far as possible in the UCL? They won’t achieve anything as usual
“He will get more playing time and the Ligue 1 shows he still has some ambition in his career. Certainly more so than going to Turkey.”
This is the comment I responded to that got you and @Doku triggered.
How is going to a team that will probably fight for Europa/Conference league spot in the French league better than going to Galatasaray and the Turkish league, while playing in the UCL?
If you take away PSG and you compare the rest of the French league vs the Turkish league, which league is better?
Galatasaray wins that league easy.
By “won’t play for psg”, I somehow understood that he doesn’t want to go there, that one is on me. Ligue 1 has four clubs in the UCL, OL may not be one of them but they are still one of the strongest clubs there. The rest of the Ligue 1 is still better than the turkish league for sure.
Fofana itโs not a bad player if he stays doing defensive work and carrying the ball, he is bad offensively.
It’s exactly quite the opposite from that.
Not a single outright sale so far this summer. You get a loan… YOU get a loan…. EVERYONE gets a loan!
Krosche can’t come here fast enough.
Leao?
You’re right. duh! But still not a very convincing track record.
Not at all.
