Paulo Fonseca Milan

Tuttosport: Fonseca yet to decide attacking trident – Pulisic the only guarantee

Paulo Fonseca is still deciding his eleven for AC Milan’s clash against Napoli, and reports suggest that he is looking mainly at his attacking trident.

Milan were without a game this weekend after the entire Bologna debacle, and this has perhaps left Fonseca in a tricky position. Before the weekend’s game, there were suggestions that the Portuguese coach was going to continue with Noah Okafor on the wing, rather than Rafael Leao, so now there is a decision to make.

Currently, it seems that Leao is back to being the preferred option after the weekend’s reports, and Tuttosport further cements this. In this morning’s report – relayed by Milan News – it is suggested that Leao, Samuel Chukwueze and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are fighting for two roles behind Alvaro Morata, with Christian Pulisic taking the other spot.

Presumably, Leao would start on the left as the guaranteed of these options. However, the middle part of the trident is most confusing – Chukwueze would push Pulisic centrally, whereas Loftus-Cheek would slot in front of the midfield duo.

Given reports have suggested that a ‘more physical’ Rossoneri is being demanded by Fonseca for the game, it would not be a shock if the Englishman were preferred as the Trequartista simply for the physical element.

  1. We need Leao to just show up and give a little bit of effort. Hes proven he can be napolis kryptonite. I believe the rest of the team can do what needs to be done to beat this team, but leaos effort will definitely give us that extra boost
