Footmercato: ‘Concerns’ over Milan’s stalled mercato as ‘disagreements continue to grow’

AC Milan are being linked with new players every day but they are yet to get a signing over the line and there is a climate of ‘concern’, a report claims.

A report from Footmercato – which includes some very strong words on the situation at corporate level – states that there is a verbal agreement in place with Daichi Kamada but as of yet it is not official.

Negotiations are still ongoing with Villarreal for Samuel Chukwueze, with Fenerbahçe for the Turkish talent Arda Güler and also with Sassuolo for Davide Frattesi. However, Inter are on pole for the latter, which means the could join them after Marcus Thuram.

Milan have also joined the race for striker Gianluca Scamacca, but it is AS Roma who are ahead in signing the striker from West Ham. Mali international El Bilal Touré is an alternative, yet Almeria have set a high asking price.

Lazar Samardžić of Udinese is a target but once again it looks like a complicated pursuit since Napoli have been after the playmaker for longer, who himself still dreams of moving back to the Bundesliga.

The sale of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle for €70m should provide a big boost in the multiple stalled negotiations, but the ‘disagreements continue to grow’ over the path that Milan should take.

“Between American modernism and Italian romanticism, concerns persist as the weeks go by. And the roar of the fans is also increasingly heard,” the report concludes.

  1. There’s nothing to do with romanticism Vs modernism, the issue is the apparent complete lack of a thought out plan. Clubs are making signings they have been planning for months and Milan are surprised we can’t make signings in days.

    1. Bingo..there’s a clear lack of planning. There’s no direction. All we know of so far was a couple of directors got sacked and that’s it. No one has come forward to say exactly where the club is heading. And the of course Tonali got sold which makes it even worse. Now we REALLY dont know wtf is going on lol

    2. Spot on. We are a fkn mess. Everyone sees that – players, agents, etc…why come to a team that has no clear vision/project AND that ALWAYS OFFERS LESS MONEY???? LOL. It’s not surprising this is happening.

What IS surprising is Gerry and the gang didn’t see this coming – shows they are ignorant of the ways of Italian and European football. RELATIONSHIPS MATTER especially when you are constantly asking players or clubs to take lower salaries and transfer fees lol. Nobody does strangers a favor.

    3. Romanticism = treating the club as family
Modernism = treating the club as business

Which club the players want to sign for when there is not much money for the salary? I guess you can already get the answer on why it is hard to make signings.

    4. They are beautiful words from an over rate media reporter, we fans don’t care
We care about who is going to play for Milan and smash Inter next season

Egg on the face of cardinal and Furlani
Moncada may have to look for a real job soon
stay tuned for more fake news

  2. Mehdi taremi and arda guler shouldn’t be too expensive. Not to mention some counterparts included in the signing.

    1. Guler sounds like it’s going to be 30m plus once signing bonuses and commissions are added on. Taremi I agree could be excellent for a couple of seasons.

      1. guler has a release clause set at 17.5 mil which makes it quite weird that we havent just paid up that sum as its a pretty low fee.

        1. Do u remember that Milan failed to pay €15 release clause for julian Alvarez until man City overtook and paid, now the guy is one of the best in the world of football.

          1. he cost 21.4 mil euroes according to transfermarkt but sure of course i remember that we missed our on a great transfer but its not like other clubs didnt also miss out on that transfer but no question it would have been a great transfer had he signed for us.
This season we are about to sell tonali and with a great cl semis and playing for a full stadion all season + doubling a few of our advertisement deals up to 30 some mil we really should be in a position to act more freely but up until now we seem to just scrape by.

        2. Guler has a release clause of 17.5m, sure.

But you can’t just pay the club that money and take the player, the player needs to be in agreement too.

And he and his agent (father) are in a very powerful position at the moment, because lots of clubs can afford to pay the fee, so it’s up to them which offer to accept. Why would they rush to accept the first one?

By most accounts, they want a large signing bonus and commission payments (hence a 25-30m figure). And they can make the interested clubs compete with each other over his status in the team, the salary, the sign on, advantageous bonuses and clauses.

I would expect that wherever he goes, there’ll be a release clause that kicks in after 2-3 years like Haaland’s did at Dortmund so, if the first mice goes well, they can repeat the whole process again in future.

So he’s in no rush to decide so long as plenty of clubs are willing to pay the fee.

          1. We pretty much agree here and ofcourse the player needs to accept the offer as well.

Yeah i agree but still offer them maybe 5mil in sign on fees and then its 22.5 and we can also offer him to play and maybe a 2-3 mil salary with bonuses and add ons.

As someone already mentioned here the other day (maybe you) he would indeed be a great match for dortmund or at least i could see him end up there and do really well. Milan wouldnt be bad for him either though but in the end the will of the player is the most important thing.

  3. It’s already an absolute shambles. At this rate, it’s going to make last summer’s mercato look like a masterpiece of good transfer dealing.

    1. We see it already with Thuram, they refused to spend an extra 500 k to get him because their computer based calculations from Mr Bean’s software said so. It was more than their formulas said he was worth. He is valued at 32 million euros. What Inter spent including wages was in line with his market value that we seem to ignore conveniently.

  4. That’s what happens when American owners want to get involved in football, and they do not know how it works, and also they do not want to invest in the sport or the teams they purchase, they are only interested in making a profit.

    1. Toulouse coach was fired for refusing a long-term contract because they were interfering with his work and training methods by having a computer build their training programs. This was quote from their former Director and club Legen, very familiar situation:

“When the Americans took over, I no longer had the same role at the club as under the presidency of Olivier Sadran, where I was an integral part of the recruitment cell. Without revealing any secrets, today is the reign of Data and it is clear that it is a great success. It’s about another era, I didn’t really feel like I belonged“.

“We are almost exclusively data driven in our processes,” explained Comolli. “Whether that is recruiting a player, a coach, analyzing opponents, or looking at our own team and players. RedBird are shareholders and owners of an analytics company Zelus in the U.S. which we are lucky to have access to via what we call RedBird FC. On pretty much a daily basis Zelus make data available to us through their analysts which enables us to identify deficiencies in the market but also to get access to the type of player that would have previously been unthinkable.

“The business we have been doing over the past three year has helped us to overperform with regards to expenditure and we are currently 16th or 17th in terms of budget yet only a couple of points away from seventh in the table. This allows us to be very innovative in our approach but also very disciplined in how we approach our use of it as well.” When THE COMPUTERS AND GERRY’S ANALYSTS SAY SOMETHING SHUT UP, DO AS YOU ARE TOLD. They are only at Milan to use as a lab rats for their proof of concept and sell their modeling software to other teams. Boost their own assests. Redbird owns the company that we use to make decisions. Once they can determine if it works at top level clubs, not just shitty little teams in France, they can increase the value of their intellectual property and sell it to everyone else.

They are doing on purpose to rid us of anyone that challenge them. They are not interested in successful sporting projects and establing us as the best, they want to use our team to feed their egos and pockets.

  5. Spot on. We are a fkn mess. Everyone sees that – players, agents, etc…why come to a team that has no clear vision/project AND that ALWAYS OFFERS LESS MONEY???? LOL. It’s not surprising this is happening.

      1. i don’t know why Elliot sold the club to such jokers, i guess because he was allowed to stay on, now the club is a joke and we will go back another 10 yrs, no wonder why players do not want to come to the club this transfer window and what good and decent players we do have now want’s OUT.

        1. Why? You still do not know why? Redbird borrow 600M from Elliot, with high interest rate. Elliot sold only 70% for 1.2B. If Redbird does not payout 600M, ACM will go again in hands of Elliot. Experts called this scheme: laundering. Capito?

        2. mikele is right in the sense that it was very advantageous for elliot to sell i doubt though that the club will ever move back on their hands because before that happens redbirs will just sell all the players regardless of what the fans might think as that could cover their loans,

  6. It feels like the way its setup is Cardinale outlines the parameters for Furlani to follow. I don’t think Gerry is signing off on every prospect but rather its Furlani having to operate within a range.

So I don’t see where the disagreements and “fog” come from. Furlani, Moncada and Pioli are working without middle men. Get it together and sign, folks.

    1. Cardinale and gang are your heroes, aren’t they? You were the one defending them all along. You loved that cheapness, sackings etc. Changing your tune now?

  7. I think we can offer Rebic or origi to fenerbahce to lower guler price from 17,5m euro . But due to fierce competition for guler , we still need to pay 10m euro signing fee bonus to guler father

  8. Problem now is we have opened up another gap to fill. Currently who will be the backup for the cm pairing of krunic and pobega? Calabria?

  9. It looks like profit-making is the only objective! Addio football and passion! Whilst other competitive teams have already secured several signings, with regards to Milan, the only signing that seemed secured is now a mystery!!!! It looks like it is going to be another hot summer for Milan.

  10. I can’t imagine any player wanting to come to a club that clearly has no defined plan, leadership or aspiration to be anything more than a ‘top 4’ team.
Inter will get all of the players that they want over us, because they do have those things. They are years ahead of us, one of the best teams in Europe and an attractive destination for young players, especially with so many starting spots up for grabs. If they want SMS or Fratessi, they will get them, after all, who is going to convince them that it is a better bet to come to Milan?
Like him or not, the Maldini Milan was one with personality and ambition; definitely on the right path given the recent successes, but still a distance behind Europe’s best and now unfortunately, back at square one.
My worry is that given Tonali’s departure, more ‘shocks’ are around the corner.
    Forza Milan!

  11. I wldnt say I’m not bothered but not so much cos even maldini wldnt have completed any significant signing by now. We always end up with the trash even with him. Despite knowing abt Charles, I remember how long it took them to pay on that failed transfer.
