Former Milan striker believes Abraham ‘has to be waited for’: “Important potential”

Tammy Abraham arrived in the summer, and AC Milan have already seen signs of what the Englishman can do. However, they have been infrequent until this point.

Throughout the summer, Milan were looking to add another striker to their ranks, and Abraham led the list of targets for a prolonged period, but the Rossoneri did not make a move until the end of the window.

He made an immediate impact after signing, assisting Rafael Leao’s equaliser against Lazio before the previous international break, but since then he has not done much. Whilst he scored against Venezia, and has shown spirit, the contributions have not flowed.

It has not been an issue with a lack of chances – they have been regular – but perhaps a case of luck. Regardless of the issue, though, the Rossoneri need Abraham to refind himself on the scoresheet, and former Diavolo striker Joe Jordan has expressed his faith in the Englishman’s ability when speaking to Tuttosport (via Milan Press).

“He has to be waited for. Personally I like him a lot as a centre forward. He has important potential and we must not forget that he was out for a long time. It’s normal to have some ups and downs after a serious injury, but I have great confidence in him.

“He needs to play to regain 100 per cent of his best condition and to shine again, but he can definitely become an important player for Milan. Can he be a 15-20 goal player even in A league with Milan? I say yes.

“With a bit of patience he’ll be back to his top form, so I’ll be able to contribute and score a lot like he did in Italy at Roma before his injury.”

  1. I’ve never heard of Joe Jordan, but I agree with his comments. Tammy Abraham can be an important player for AC Milan this season. I don’t expect him to score 20 goals, but he can definitely contribute 13 goals throughout the season.

  2. Even though Gattuso behaved rather disgraceful towards Joe Jordan this still to this day has me chuckling each time I see it 😀

  3. I watched Abraham at Chelsea, he has great instincts and is very good passing the ball, however, he is a striker and has rarely been able to find the inside of the net. I don’t know what the passage of time will do for him at this point in his career.

    1. What are you talking about? He has over career 120 goals at 27. Abraham has always been a goal scorer. He just needs to find his form in from of goal after missing a year of football.

  4. Tammy is 27, he should be hitting the peak of his form at this age. Instead, he is just inconsistent from year to year

  5. Maybe if he focused on finishing the chances he gets in the run of play instead of focusing on taking PKs from Puli, Milan wouldn’t need to wait as long…just saying
