This summer, AC Milan will see several changes take place at the club and it seems like one coach is ticking several boxes.
Picking a new coach for Milan is not an easy task. After all, this is not someone to bridge the gap. Instead, they are moving forward with the project and taking it to a new level. So, it cannot be another Massimiliano Allegri or Antonio Conte. It cannot be another two-year situation.

Instead, the new coach must lay their own groundwork to move forward into the future.
Why Cardinale appreciates Glasner
It is for this reason that Oliver Glasner is so highly admired after his work with Crystal Palace, where his medals speak for themselves. Indeed, it is this reason why everyone appears to agree. According to Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), Gerry Cardinale and Ralf Rangnick like the Austrian coach and believe he can modernise the Rossoneri.
A six-hour meeting between the parties – where Glasner impressed heavily – shows the respect between the parties, as does Cardinale’s personal attendance. With international experience, trophies in the cabinet and a modern playstyle, he has the approval of the American.
This may be all that is required, too. In recent days, there have been suggestions about Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s presence in decision making situations and whilst he is a big part, it is ultimately Cardinale who makes the decisions.
An old connection
10 years ago, Glasner and Rangnick worked together at RB Salzburg and this move could rekindle them. As has been widely discussed, the German would oversee the technical side of things, but the pair have a good relationship with an aligned vision already. Indeed, he too believes that the Rossoneri should move ‘forward with Glasner’.
Saying that, either could arrive without the other. So, it is not a package deal, far from it. Yet, they would both be glad to work together again.
Decisions are not expected soon, Rangnick has the World Cup to focus on – though, a decision could arrive before then – and Glasner is still weighing up the proposal, but he loves the idea.

Glasner should just start already.
Making headway. Way to go. Forza
This is the best thing that could ever happen to Milan. Glasner was contacted by Milan to replace Pioli before he went to crystal palace and for some bizarre reason they chose Fonseca and Conceição instead all because of Ibra foolish decision making and involvement.
This is what happens when unqualified and incompetent people are put in charge.
I still believe Gazidis and Elliot should have chosen Ralf Rangnick 6yrs ago even though Boban and Maldini convinced them to stick with Pioli and we won a scudetto.
Because sticking with Pioli meant that at some point we would have to invest in better quality proven players to bring Milan back to a competitive level internationally and Elliott wasn’t going to do that and unfortunately they sold the club to a company that wasn’t going to make ridiculous investments on the transfer market to bring Milan back to the top.
So the Ralf Rangnick project was the best solution to lay the foundation for getting talented players early. Developing them from the youth system like Barcelona did with Xavi, Iniesta, Messi and Yamin Yamal.
I don’t believe we will be a selling club but serie a clubs cannot offer the type of salaries EPL and Saudi clubs can offer players. So it’s only natural for us to sell a player if a ridiculous offer comes in but with Ralf Rangnick project we can capitalize on it and still be sustainable by easily replacing outgoing players with quality upcoming talent.
Bro you nailed it .. 👌
This is Milan not some feeder club.
We were building a great team until Redbird trashed it.
Maldini should have been given the money and the power to sign the players we needed.
There is no reason a well run Milan could not emulate Bayern and compete at the top table.
How many times have we seen clubs taking the easy money and cashing in on a player, only to spend time and money trying to replace them for years and eventually the club/team is no longer competitive and lose more money.
Was selling Tji for 60m worth it? would he have given us the goals/assists that would have brought us champions league and the money that goes with it, probably. Penny wise, pound foolish!
Not really accurate to say Red Bird wouldn’t or doesn’t spend. They’ve spent more than anyone else in Serie A on transfers since they bought Milan.
They’ve just spent poorly. Obviously should have just allowed Maldini to continue leading the project and given him the proper resources.
Instead we have the charlatan Ibra.
When we consider the nett spend (after selling our stars) we about break even.
In fact the sale of Tji was specifically to balance the clubs finances for the year and post a profit
“When we consider the nett spend (after selling our stars) we about break even.”
Exactly what healthy clubs do. They don’t go taking hundreds of millions of loan to finance new players. Not sustainable and exactly what got us banned from Euro competitions half a decade ago.
Well said, totally agree!
true true!
Between Glasner and Arne slot who do you think is a better in coaching experience.
Slot
this is the best comment i have seen on this space for days now.
Support Glassner and Rangnick…lets go for it Cardinale. Don’t make any suddenly change again.
Time to rebuild Milan, from the below.
