France head coach Didier Dechamps has revealed that Olivier Giroud suffered an ankle sprain, while it has emerged that the medical staff are not too worried.
Giroud looked in some pain when he limped off in the 23rd minute of France’s game against Ireland tonight, having gone to the floor while aiming to latch onto a feed inside the box.
Deschamps spoke to TF1 at half-time and was asked about Giroud: “He had a small problem with his ankle, then on a shot he turned it. He was in too much pain to continue unfortunately.”
According to what was reported by the broadcaster TF1 (via MilanNews), the France medical staff are not particularly worried by the ankle injury suffered by Giroud. He was spotted on the bench with ice on his ankle.

Seems like poor translation. No way a sprained ankle is something you’d classify as a ‘smoll problem’. Maybe a strain?
Yeah Deschamps says “he had a small problem with his ankle, it turned and it was too painful to keep playing”.
If that’s the case, then he shouldn’t play for at least one week. Needless to say, he might miss the Milan derby. But, if it means Giroud won’t be out for a whole month or more, I’ll take this. AC Milan seriously need a new striker after this, so I hope the management spot this “issue” and remedy it.
Isn’t that what Jovic and Okafor are for?

I think its Not that big Problem. Oliver know, that the derby is in a week. So he Took the safe way and was substituted an wont play the second Game for France
If he cant play against Inter, we will go with Okafor ad CF. Pulisic on the right. No Experiments. And Jovic wont be ready

Well we have Jovic and he’s now a Milan player for better or worse, so maybe back him rather than calling for more transfers.
Can we at least give these guys a chance before we starting writing them off?
We are far from fkd if Giroud gets injured, relax. We might suddenly be less focal up top but I’d like to see what that looks like anyway. We have quality on the bench and will be fine for the likely one/one and a half matches he is absent.
All hell will break loose if Pioli decided to play Leao as CF, Pulisic as LW and Chuk as RW against inter.
Unfortunately we might never see this formation this season.
Imagine if this happens and Leao scores a hattrick just like Son did against Burnley when Ange played him as a 9.

Small problem for French coach bc he still has many strikers, but big problem for club that will face Derby match.
Its propably just a knock and hopefully he wil be ready for the derby but even if he isnt we still have jovic and okafor who should be able to get the job done but obviously it would be detrimental if giroud ends up sidelined for a longer duration of time.
Ofcourse it is small problem for Didier Deschamps. Because France has many striker options : Marcus Thuram, Kolo Randal Muani, etc.
But Giroud is our key in this very fluid 4-3-3, and there will be Della Maldonina Derby. Big loss for ACM.
