From France: Milan submit offer worth €6m for Bordeaux midfielder – the response

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are looking to sign a midfielder before the transfer window closes but with a limited budget, it’s proving to be a difficult task. Jean Onana has been linked with the club but the negotiations are yet to unlock.

The Bordeaux midfielder, born in 2000, is seemingly one of the primary targets for Milan. However, the Rossoneri’s budget is not high and thus they have been unable to reach a breakthrough in the negotiations with the French side.

According to the credible journalist Clement Carpentier, negotiations are still ongoing between the clubs. Milan have €10m to spend on two positions (centre-back as well) and are looking for the best solutions to make this happen.

Paolo Maldini made the following offer yesterday: a €2m paid loan with an obligation to buy at €3-4m. Bordeaux rejected the offer as they only want a permanent deal with the following demands: €6m fixed fee, €1m in bonuses and a future resale %.

Onana, for his part, has already agreed to a long-term contract with Milan as the journalist concludes. It remains to be seen if Milan will make a new attempt for the player, especially with the Lucas Paqueta money coming (read here).

  1. This is serious! Future resale??!! It’s absurd! Why would these small teams give us conditions! Perhaps, that’s why it would be easy for Spezia to buy him cos of the terms agreed. Till the window closes….. We’ll see

    1. I mean that’s one of the best incentives to sell to a ‘big’ club, a lot of lower league teams survive off these sort of clauses in young players’ sales. Imagine he is a breakthrough star and Milan sell him to England for a load of money in a couple of years, they could make more from that than the original transfer.

    1. I can’t believe anyone could be this naive or disrespectful towards another club; they’re perfectly entitled to ask for whatever they want. Seems they have a better offer on the table from Spezia anyway.
