Frattesi explains why he only wanted Inter despite late attempt from Milan

Davide Frattesi has explained why he had his heart set on a move to join Inter despite AC Milan’s attempts to convince him.

Frattesi’s name appeared on a list of potential reinforcements for Milan during the period after the news of Sandro Tonali’s imminent move to Milan, and his agent Beppe Riso confirmed that an attempt was made.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani had lunch with his Sassuolo counterpart Giovanni Carnevali and Frattesi’s agent, but discussions didn’t get very far because of the over €30m asking price.

The 23-year-old has joined Inter, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that it will be a loan with an obligation to buy for €25m with young striker Samuele Mulattieri – valued at €8m by Inter – going the other way.

Frattesi spoke at his official presentation alongside Steven Zhang and his comments were relayed by SempreMilan.it.

“It all started a year and a half ago. Playing against Inter I was struck by the stadium and the fans. For me it’s an important factor, and when the opportunity arose I didn’t think about it for a second,” he said.

“I hope to win some trophies, I will give my commitment, professionalism and hopefully some goals. I’ll play alongside champions I’ll try to ‘steal’ something from in training.

“Playing at San Siro as an opponent was difficult, but as an Interista it will be a further motivation. I can’t wait to score and celebrate under the Curva.”
