‘From bad to a disaster’: Milan fans’ furious reaction to hiring of Pioli

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli is set to be named as AC Milan’s new head coach on Tuesday, if widespread reports in the media are to be believed.

The club’s leadership made the decision to sack Marco Giampaolo on Monday, as our correspondent Vito Angele told us, but it was believed that Luciano Spalletti was the first choice to replace him.

Spalletti apparently even agreed to take over at Milan on a three-year deal, but he could not resolve a severance package with Inter – where he has a contract until 2021.

Pioli then entered pole position, and MilanNews.it‘s Anto Vitiello confirmed that the former Inter and Lazio boss is set to sign his deal with Milan on Tuesday, with his first training session at Milanello scheduled for Wednesday.

The 53-year-old has taken charge of 310 games in Serie A across spells with Parma, Chievo, Bologna, Lazio, Inter and Fiorentina, winning 109 games, losing 112 and drawing 89.

It’s safe to say the appointment has gathered a lot of criticism from Milan fans, with #PioliOut even trending in Italy on Twitter.
