From Belgium: Arsenal leading race for €20m-rated Anderlecht star but Milan are still interested

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have not given up on signing midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht but Arsenal appear to be leading the race, a report claims.

Both Kessie and Bennacer are set to miss a few Milan games because of the AFCON in early January 2022 until the beginning of February, with Ivory Coast and Algeria among the pre-tournament favourites. Presuming Tonali stays, the fourth midfielder in the squad is Rade Krunic, fresh from a season in which he proved to be useful in several roles but tending to struggle more as a deeper-lying midfielder.

According to Belgian outlet DH (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri are keen on landing Lokonga from Anderlecht, who Alexis Saelemaekers revealed he has encouraged to join him at AC Milan. Arsenal are the team closest to landing the 21-year-old at present, but in addition to Milan and the Gunners the interest of Sevilla and Monaco must be noted, with a €20m asking price set.
