From France: Milan in talks over bargain Kessie sale; player wants move

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are in shock talks over a potential deal that would see Franck Kessie join Monaco, a report claims.

The Ivory Coast international has been the subject of intense speculation throughout the summer window thus far.

Several reports have suggested that Milan could look to sell him in order to recoup funds for the market, but it has also been stated that head coach Marco Giampaolo will have the final say.

A ‘rich offer’ from China reportedly arrived earlier in the summer, while Premier league duo Spurs and Wolves were also linked, with the latter apparently having a bid accepted.

It appeared that the 22-year-old would be staying at Milan as the English window slammed shut, but a shock report from French outlet RMC Sport suggests otherwise.

They claim that the Rossoneri are in talks with Monaco over a €20m deal, and Kessie is ‘enthusiastic’ about the idea of moving to the Ligue 1 side.

Milan paid €32m in total for the player (including his two-year loan spell), so selling him for a €12m loss seems an unlikely hypothesis at present.

The player has apparently also confessed that he is struggling to adjust to Giampaolo’s 4-3-1-2 system, so a fresh start could be on the cards.
