Tuttosport: From nearly walking away to full recovery – Florenzi ready for return

By Oliver Fisher -

Alessandro Florenzi will be back in the squad for tomorrow night’s game against Fiorentina having reached the end of his long road to recovery.

Today’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) recall how almost seven months have passed since Florenzi suffered the tendon injury that forced him off in the 0-0 draw away against Sassuolo back on August 30.

The full-back gave an interview earlier this week during which he detailed what he went through in a chat with Carlo Pellegatti for Star Casino Sport.

“I was more than disheartened. I won’t deny it: there have been some junctures where I wanted to give up everything. I closed in on the most important thing I have is that my family and they helped me get out of this mental loop I had… It was enough for me to see the ball and the desire came back,” he said.

He has to watch on during a difficult period for the team as they went seven games without a win in January which gave rise to rumours of discontent in the dressing room, which Florenzi has revealed were seen as the object of humour at the time.

“Other things were said that made us laugh in the locker room, they threw out of things that… also had a lot of imagination,” he said.

  1. He’s an ideal player for the right wing back slot were currently playing as he can play basically any role on the right.
