From Spain: Barcelona reach agreement with Milan target over four-year deal with key nuance

By Oliver Fisher -

Barcelona have reached a verbal agreement with Lyon striker and alleged Milan target Memphis Depay over a four-year contract, according to a report.

Sport (as cited by Fichajes) recently reported how it is Milan who are the Italian team taking the biggest steps to sign the former PSV and Manchester United man.

They added that the Rossoneri management have already contacted the player to let him know that they want him to become the future heir to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, asking him not to sign a deal with Barcelona, but news to the contrary has arrived.

According to the latest from Mundo Deportivo, Depay and Barça have reached a verbal agreement over a four-year contract, and while he can not sign anything until January it seems that everything is place.

There is a very important nuance too, as the forward has given the go-ahead for the first year of his salary to be in line with what the club can offer given the effects of the Coronavirus crisis and subsequently the wage cap imposed.

Essentially, Depay is so desperate to go to Barcelona that he is willing to stagger his income in the way that best suits the club. Lyon are well aware and can either let him go there in January or become resigned to losing him for not even a euro next June.
