From Spain: Liverpool in advanced talks with Bundesliga club over €22m deal for Milan target

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have chosen Schalke defender and Milan target Ozan Kabak as their ideal January reinforcement, a report from Spain claims.

Kabak was of the centre-backs that Milan were intensely linked with towards the end of the recent summer window, and a number of outlets have suggested since that he is still a target given the Rossoneri didn’t end up signing anyone for that position.

An intermediary who was involved in the negotiations revealed his belief earlier in the month that the hopes of Kabak joining Milan are far from over, and RMC Sport reported yesterday that Liverpool and Milan are both interested in the 20-year-old, who would cost €30-40m.

According to what is being reported by TodoFichajes, Liverpool are determined to sign a new centre-back in January to cope with the injury suffered by Virgil van Dijk, and it seems that the chosen player is Kabak.

Jurgen Klopp wanted Ben White of Brighton, but the demands of the Seagulls forced them to turn back to the Bundesliga – a league Klopp obviously knows well.

Negotiations with Schalke 04 are described as ‘well advanced’ and the deal could be closed at a figure close to €22million.
