From Spain: Man Utd intend to close signing of Milan star soon after offering four-year deal

By Oliver Fisher -

Manchester United seem to have moved into position to sign AC Milan playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu on a free transfer, a report claims.

Calhanoglu’s deal at Milan expires in June 2021 and there has been nothing in the media recently to suggest that he is close to signing a new contract.

According to Spanish outlet TF, United are willing to take advantage of the situation and they ‘intend to close his signing as soon as possible’.

In January, the Turkey international will be free to sign a pre-contract with any club from outside Serie A, and the report adds that he has doubts about staying in Italy and seems to be convinced with United’s proposal.

Milan are now rushing to try and get a renewal sorted for a player who has five goal contributions in 11 games across all competitions this season (four goals and one assist), but Calhanoglu wants a big pay rise as the Rossoneri management seem reluctant to offer one.

The Premier League side on the other hand are offering him a four-year deal with the salary he wants, and United are now apparently ‘rubbing their hands’.
