From Spain: Milan agree terms with River Plate star and hope to strike €10m deal

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have agreed personal terms in principle with Julian Alvarez ahead of a possible move next summer, according to a report from Spain.

Spanish source TDFichajes reports that Alvarez will make the jump to Europe in summer 2022 as he has shown that he is ready for a new challenge and a bigger arena having amassed 11 goals and 6 assists in 14 games played for River Plate at San Siro.

He has a contract until December 2022 and a release clause of €25m, with Bayer Leverkusen, Aston Villa and Milan among those who have shown the most interest to date. The report adds that the Rossoneri have found an agreement with the forward to join the club next summer.

Now they must strike a deal with River Plate who want a minimum of €18m from his sale despite the release clause and his contractual situation. Milan believe that they can use that to their advantage and that it why their offer is €10m maximum.

  1. That strategy didn’t work in the past with kaio jorge, even though there were not as many clubs interested in him as there are in Alvarez and his contract was literally about to expire and it sure won’t work this time.

  2. Unless he has an expiring deal or one year left to run and nobody else wants this kid I’m not sure how we always think we can low ball and get the player?
