From Spain: Milan, Inter and Marseille want defender Barcelona bought in potential €30m deal

AC Milan have retained an interest in signing Junior Firpo from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, according to a report.

Mundo Deportivo in Spain focus on the fact that Firpo could be sold this summer having not forced his way into Ronald Koeman’s plans, and Jorge Sampaoli – the Olympique Marseille coach – wants to reinforce his defence by signing the Spaniard.

Firpo’s two great season with Betis encouraged Barça to bet heavily on him in the summer of 2019 , spending €18m fixed plus €12m in variables. Barça’s plan was that the now-24-year-old would arrive at the Camp Nou and take Jordi Alba’s spot.

Last season Junior played 17 league games, 2 in the Copa del Rey and 4 in the Champions League. In this season he has had even less prominence as he has only played 6 league games, 4 in the Cup, 1 in the Spanish Super Cup and 6 in the Champions League.

With still three more years of contract, Firpo is also apparently wanted by both Milan and Inter as well as Roma, Napoli and West Ham in England.
