From Spain: Winger moves towards Sevilla move as Milan open to loan with option formula

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan winger Samu Castillejo appears to be moving closer to sealing a January exit as Sevilla are showing strong interest, a report claims.

Castillejo has not had a good last few months, having lost his spot in the first choice starting XI to Alexis Saelemaekers who arrived in January from Anderlecht due to a struggle to find form.

According to Spanish outlet TF, at least three LaLiga teams are looking at signing Castillejo: his former club Villarreal, Sevilla and Atlético Madrid.

His contract expires in 2023, but considering that he is not a part of the plans at present and also considering Milan’s strong interest in Red Bull Salzburg star Dominik Szoboszlai, it seems his days are numbered at San Siro.

Of the three options he has in Spain, the club who are poised to sign him are Sevilla. The player is enticed by the destination and Monchi has been working on his signing for some time, while the Rossoneri are open to selling on a loan with option to buy.

The idea would be to let him depart for Andalusia in January and see if he fits into Lopetegui’s plans before making the move permanent, in a similar way to the Suso deal.
