Gallery: ‘Theo sprints away’, ‘Devil on your back’ – Today’s front pages in Italy

AC Milan managed to get the job done last night at San Siro as they beat Napoli 1-0 to further strengthen their grip on third place while also moving a point behind Juventus.

In the end it was a goal from Theo Hernandez in the 25th minute which was enough to decide the game. He picked up a lovely through ball from his wingmate Rafael Leao, taking a touch before slotting under the onrushing Gollini.

The result means that there are now 17 points between the two sides, which not many saw coming after Napoli romped to the Scudetto last season. Below are the headlines from the main papers.

La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Theo sprints away. Milan beat Napoli too: second place just a point away. The Frenchman decisive from Leao assist. Pioli: ‘We are in the same form as Inter’. Mazzarri plummets: they are ninth.”

Corriere dello Sport: “Devil on your back. Theo chills Napoli and can see 2nd place. Milan break the Azzurri (1-0): 19 points in 7 games, they are -1 from Juve. Fourth goal for the Frenchman, who makes the most of Leao assist. Mazzarri leaves San Siro with regrets: woodwork hit twice and a final press.”

Tuttosport: “Theo and goosebumps: Pioli climbs. Milan at -1 from Juve, Napoli unlucky at the end. Leao fires blanks, but what an assist! Seven victories in the last 9 games: Scudetto form Mazzarri recriminates after Simic hits the post at the 89th.”
