AC Milan fell to their second defeat in two games in the Champions League last night as they lost 1-0 against Bayer Leverkusen, but it was a match with controversy.
Victor Boniface got the only goal early in the second half after the home side had dominated the first 45 minutes, yet Milan missed some big chances and can feel unlucky not to have been awarded at least one penalty.
Below is how the front pages of today’s papers in Italy have reacted to the game…
La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Milan anger: ‘There was a penalty’. The Rossoneri waste too many chances against Bayer. Fonseca: ‘Never played so well. The foul on Loftus-Cheek not even reviewed’.”
Corriere dello Sport: “Fonseca suffers but comes close to equalising. Bayer sinks Milan: Second defeat in Europe (1-0).”
Tuttosport: “Mistakes and bad luck in Leverkusen. Milan remain on zero points. Theo hits the crossbar, Morata wasteful: steps forward, but second defeat.”
Ref was pretty 💩 but even without his midas touch we still totally at the mercy of leverkusen. If xabi had them stay up and looking for the second goal we never would’ve gotten out of our half of the pitch.. poor decision by him imao.
It was always gonna be a difficult match but by lord cthulhu rafa as usual nowhere to be seen when we have a tough match.. easy to bully lecce, a? Not so much the German champions
Mister, stop accusing the referee, penalty yes/ penalty no
The best game of the boys ?!
Where did Rafa Leao hide himself?
He wasn’t supposed to be the leader of the pack?
We had enough chances to level the game, but the boys missed !
In this high level games, they have to take advantage of this few chances.
But you say they played,,the best game” until now but we lost
You are like Mourinho during his tenure at Chelsea, when he always said at the press conference that :
The best team(Chelsea) lost again!
Good luck Mister !
Best he has seen the team play? That’s a bit of a stretch, the game against Inter should be the reference point. We had a shaky 20 minutes after Dimarco’s goal, but other than that the plan worked perfectly and the team never let their foot off the pedal.
