Gallery: ‘Max, the project continues’, ‘The derby will decide’ – Today’s front pages in Italy

The battle fever is brewing in Italy, with two days until the biggest fixture in Serie A: the Derby della Madonnina.

The derby has already been given the ‘do-or-die’ tag by Rafael Leao, with Milan hoping to reopen the discussions about a Scudetto race by cutting the gap to seven points. Inter, with a win, know that they would take a decisive step towards the league title if they were to even the scores for the season.

Today’s front pages

Below is how the front pages look this morning in Italy, with all four of the sports newspapers making reference to Sunday’s massive game at La Scala del Calcio.

La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Increasingly Allegri. Max, the project continues. Contract renewal and raise are ready. Milan are preparing for the future.”

Corriere dello Sport: “Can Max save it? The derby will decide. The league demands that Milan stop a runaway Inter. Chivu can close it out: Allegri is the final obstacle.”

“Leao and Pulisic dream of a move to get back to within seven. Bartesaghi is doubtful: Estupiñan is ready on the left. Thuram and Pio Esposito are ready to make the final push to +13. Calhanoglu is preferred to Mkhitaryan in midfield.”

Tuttosport: “Stramacciani: ‘Another Leao with Max Barella, do like Lautaro’. The coach and commentator: ‘Allegri has brought back a big-name mentality. And with Rabiot and Modric… Chivu respects everyone but continues his own path’.”

QS: “Derby, a Scudetto treasure. Milan-Inter, two squads of stellar value: over a billion.”
