The conflicting information regarding Mike Maignan’s future can be perfectly summed up by this morning’s newspapers in Italy.
Over the past few days, there have been various reports regarding the negotiations to extend Maignan’s stay. Daniele Longo stated that the chances of him signing are as low as 10%, but this morning La Gazzetta dello Sport paint an entirely different picture.

Below are how the newspapers in Italy look, with plenty of discourse around the goalkeeping situation and Rafael Leao’s fitness in view of the game against Verona tomorrow.
La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Maignan close to a yes. Official offer from Milan. Contract renewal until 2030, salary raised to Leao’s level. Tomorrow they face Verona: the smaller sides are a problem, and Rafa is a doubt.”
Corriere dello Sport: “Milan go for Hugo Souza. Tare insists on Maignan’s renewal. The alternative is Corinthians’ No.1: 1.99 meters tall and 26 years old.”
Tuttosport: “The Maignan issue. Souza, Milan’s first offer. The Frenchman continues to refuse to renew his contract: the Rossoneri are targeting the Corinthians and Brazil goalkeeper. Worry over Leao.”
QS: “Allegri’s cards. Leao-Pulisic and Füllkrug are there. A new Milan to test.”

The other issue to look at with Mike is how CFC is doing. In my opinion, ACM is more likely than CFC to get CL ball next year. If Villa keeps their position or Liverpool keeps improving Chelsea may not end up in the Champions League. Does he want to play for a team that does not have CL ball? I doubt it.
