The Italian papers this morning are full of praise for AC Milan’s heroic effort in stopping Spurs from scoring and reaching the Champions League quarter-finals.

It was another stoic defensive display from Stefano Pioli’s side as they again managed to thwart Tottenham’s supposedly world class attack, securing a 1-0 aggregate win and a place in the final eight of the competition for the first time since 2011-12. Below are the front pages of the papers…

La Gazzetta dello Sport: “King Milan. Lions in London. Quarter-finals after 11 years. The Diavolo send Conte to hell: they come close to beating Tottenham, then Maignan stops Kane in the final. And 0-0 is a party. Pioli: ‘Now nothing is impossible’.”

Corriere dello Sport: “Milan hold put against Tottenham: they’re in the quarter-finals after 11 years.”

Tuttosport: “It’s a Milan of lions! In the quarters after 11 years. Courage, chances wasted and super Maignan in the 94th minute: deserved joy.”
