It is no secret that Niclas Fullkrug has struggled since his move to AC Milan, and the German will return to West Ham in the summer, once his loan deal is over.
There were suggestions that Milan could make a move for Fullkrug as a low-cost physical option for next season, perhaps as someone to alternate with a big-money signing in the summer. However, those chances have become slim recently.
Fullkrug’s fate decided
When Fullkrug arrived, he entered the Rossoneri picture with little excitement. Indeed, most overlooked him and what he may bring to the club over the course of his loan deal. So, many will not be too surprised as to how it’s gone.
Playing 13 times, he has only managed to score one goal. However, he has struggled with injury issues, notably breaking his toe early on, and since then, he has struggled to get up to full fitness. Additionally, his role has only ever been as a sub; he has never really been seen as more.
So, it is not too much of a surprise that Nicolo Schira reports that he will not be signed permanently in the summer, as Radio Rossonera relays. Instead, he will return to England, with the Diavolo not looking to make use of their €5 million clause.

Thankfully. He is not starter material. His numbers in one and a half EPL seasons were ONE goal, and so far in 13 appearances for us he scored ONE goal. These are Origi-like numbers. Sure, he was great in the Bundesliga, but that was a good while ago; currently he is a has-been, and not someone for whom we should be exercising an option to buy.
Dude has only had a fringe part in this team, don’t know if that’s enough to evaluate him. It would be okay to negotiate for a discount and have him around just incase.
Brings me to my main point, the issue I see isn’t just about signing, but will the new signings be used? Jashari has barely had time to play, Ricci is slightly better on play time and it’s partly because RCL is injured, if not for injuries, Dewinter won’t have smelt the pitch for as long as he has now.
The way I see it, game time is a bigger issue for subs to gather synergy. How does Alegri solve this?
Allegri hates changes and will only make them when it’s absolutely necessary. No wonder Füllkrug hasn’t played. And De Winter was lucky with the injuries that gave him the chance he took.
