AC Milan will complete the signing of Niclas Fullkrug officially next month. However, the deal is all but done, as reports suggest tonight.
In the past week, things have progressed rapidly with Fullkrug, and the German has sealed his move to San Siro, it seems. Yesterday was set to be his day, but he did not travel until late at night, meaning things have been postponed until today.

So, this morning, he arrived for his medical, and now, almost 10 hours later, he has finished all the checks and can almost be considered a Milan player.
The real Fullkrug day
Antonio Vitiello broke the news first, stating that the medical had finished at around 5:45 CET. Additionally, it was reported that the German would be at Milanello tomorrow (December 24) to meet his new teammates and more importantly, Massimiliano Allegri.
Then, in the minutes that followed, Luca Bianchin confirmed this information, stating, ‘as soon as West Ham give the green light, he will be able to train with the team’, with the medical completed.
The German has also decided to take the No.9 shirt, which has been left vacant since Luka Jovic’s departure in the summer. Today is truly Fullkrug day, and already he is looking forward to meeting his new teammates and staff.

It’s Füllkrug not Fullkrug…
In other threads I saw fans excited about this and saying that now that we have Füllkrug, we’ll challenge for the Scudetto. I truly don’t understand why anyone would be excited about Milan signing a player who hasn’t scored since April, has had zero goals and zero assists this season, scored all of 3 goals in two seasons with West Ham (a relegation-bound team) which is Origi-like, is a washed, very injury-prone, old has-been, and is said by the West Ham fan base to be lazy, immobile, and showing little effort and motivation when he does play (THEY are very excited about getting rid of him). What exactly will this guy solve, if he can’t score goals??? Certainly he won’t even be opening space for companions like Santi does, given that he is said to be immobile: basically a traffic cone.
I think that Santi having played for weeks/months with a chronic ankle injury and chronic pain explains why he had atrocious first touch and difficulty finishing accurately. That will happen to someone with an ankle problem (if you have played the sport, you know). I think Santi is hardworking, sacrifices himself, and has shown elsewhere that when healthy he is effective. I’m confident that now that he had surgery with a top Danish surgeon (likely much more competent than the horrible Milan medical staff that keep misdiagnosing players’ injuries), he will eventually recover his form.
Anyway, likely Santi will leave since Tare doesn’t like him. I think it’s a pity that we will lose Santi and get this washed has-been on board. I would much rather see the other big bust, the other guy who is a washed, has-been who can’t score, namely Nkunku, gone. Not Santi Gimenez. But I know that our managers are incompetent so we will see Santi gone, and will see utterly ineffective busts joining the team. Or staying. Because what club would sign Nkunku The Bust? Only very silly ones. Only silly managers like the ones we have.
Without commenting on these players, in general I don’t trust that the management is competent. They seem to buy an expensive player without the manager’s reported approval (Nkunku) or find players to fit their needs and style of play.

Santi isn’t opening space for anyone for 2-3 months.
Not a reason to drop him. He did poorly this season while playing the entire duration with chronic pain and chronic ankle problems which affect first touch and finishing accuracy. Santi is a good player, and he is only 24 years old. He is professional and hard-working.
Arsenal didn’t drop Gabriel Jesus who suffered a horrific injury and was out for 9 months (he is now back and contributing again). If we keep Santi, he will be back much faster and I’m convinced that when fully healthy, he will be good for us.
Sure, with his injury, we need a new striker in the meantime. I just doubt that Fullkrug is the one we need. You might then say, who else is available? Well, go to South America. There are plenty of good strikers there. Of course, that would take a good scout who would be able to spot someone who is both promising and ready. Just look at what the Chelsea scouts did, when they spotted Estevao, who hit the ground running and has been great for them.
See, even just out of surgery, there are clubs interested in signing Santi. Nobody is interested in signing Nkunku even though he is not injured. That’s what happens when we invest 40 million Euro in a bust. That money would have been much more than enough to poach a top level striker from any of the top South American clubs from Brazil, Argentina, Colombia or Ecuador.
If you like Santi then you should be happy about the Fullkrug signing. Its a free loan, only paying wages. He will be gone and your little brother Santi will still be getting chances.
I’m not saying we need to drop him. We need at least 2 real strikers and we now have one as Füllkrug came. Nkunku is the one who needs to go.
Then let’s hope that he is the new Giroud somehow… (although he’s missing like 5cm)
But I’m not overly optimistic.
Giroud was the exception that proved the rule. I certainly doubt that Fullkrug will be Giroud 2.0. More likely he will be Origi 2.0. But of course, for the sake of the club I love, I hope that you are right. Instead of being dismayed at my own lack of vision, I will be very happy if I’m wrong. I care a lot more for AC Milan than for being personally right.
Besides, I don’t think that Giroud with his passion would ever be called lazy and lacking commitment. His commitment and effort was so extraordinary that he even played goalkeeper for us; a truly legendary player. Also Giroud is the all-time top scorer for the French National Team, an elite, world-class top program. Being the top scorer for such a storied team is not small potatoes. Giroud’s credentials are Modric-like. Even old, he was a much more compelling signing than this bum Fullkrug.
Putting Giroud and Fullkrug in the same sentence, frankly, is an insult to Giroud.
I don’t think he will be that good and I’m not excited but maybe Milan gets lucky and he helps a bit this season. Was there someone better they could have gotten in the Jan window? I honestly have no idea. I’m hoping he is a bench player behind puli and Leao. And even behind Santi if he comes back this season. It’s just a low risk loan right?

I for one am not a fan of this Milan management but Füllkrug could be a nice signing as he is the type of player/striker we need. Yes he may not work out but it’s a hell of a lot better than paying 40m for a useless Nkunku. Plus Santi is a likeable player. I am hoping he comes back stronger and the reason he wasn’t performing was this niggling injury. The guy can score goals. You don’t just forget where the net is. He has got into good positions and missed and I hope it’s down to the injury. Let’s get him back and see how he does before writing him off!
