AC Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani had a telephone conversation with Massimiliano Allegri, amid the speculation regarding a potential return to the club.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport report this morning, it all starts with a phone call. Allegri returned to Juventus on a day in July 2021, and he gave some background on it later: “Other clubs approached me, but in the morning I woke up at 8, called Andrea Agnelli and said ‘see you tonight’.”
A call from Furlani
Whether Allegri will also return to Milan remains to be seen, but there has already been a chat over the phone. It is different from the one with Agnelli, but interesting for the future of the club. Furlani and the Italian coach spoke on the phone a few days ago through a mutual friend.
They don’t know each other well but the current events of the season put them on the same path. Furlani is the man who will choose Milan’s next sporting director and, together with him, the new coach. Allegri, on the other hand, is waiting for the right offer.
Furlani and Allegri did not have a business phone call. They did not discuss the new Milan but there will be time for that. A bridge has been created thought and it could be important for Max, who did not coach last season and feels ready to return. With the right proposal, he would return to Milan.
The CEO meanwhile has reinforced his centrality in the management of the club in the last month meaning he will have the final say on the most important decisions, but for now he has other appointments on his agenda.
More meetings planned
At present Furlani is in Dubai for commercial commitments and in the coming weeks he will meet with some sporting directors. At least four: Fabio Paratici, Igli Tare, Markus Krosche and Thiago Scuro. In the last week of March and especially in April, things will get serious.
Paratici and Tare are the favourites in a complex story but there is still a lot to be written. Meanwhile, Allegri wants a job in Italy having rejected some Saudi clubs. The challenge of a second spell with the Rossoneri attracts him, because he considers the squad interesting, with strengths and weaknesses.
The issue is obviously much more complex and involves the management of the club, the role of the coach and above all the project for the next seasons, but an initial interest is clear. Furlani knows that, if necessary, he can call for further information. Even at 8 in the morning.

He won with us in 2010/11 because he had the strongest team. In the 2011/12 season, he lost to a weaker Juventus. He chased away Pirlo and brought in Matri. So much from Milan. Coaches evolved. Mourinho. Conte and Ancelotti didn’t win or played good football at every club they coached. It all depends on the project and ambition of the club.
Milan need a strong coach who is a leader in the dressing room. Pioli needed ibrahimovic to lead Milan to scudetto trophy. So we need any other coaches who dont have a track record of winning.
We also need players who are leaders and have the experience of playing under pressure and who have won trophies.
No need to sign players like Musah and Bondo who needs time to develop. Paratici will most likely go for players who have tasted success and in their prime. That’s the type of players Milan need to sign this summer to take this team to the next level.
Allegri is a loser, he got over 200M players in his last tenure at Juve to barely be 4th.

If truly they had a phone conversation, then it’s very unprofessional of Furlani, what will the coach think, that means no matter what and however things turn out, he will be sacked…
What a joke of a club. Keep Conceicao and get rid of the players who are underperforming or are not performing at all. One year, three coaches, same results and people are still asking for a new coach. Our midfield is crap, we have no ball players like inter does. Our central defenders are slow and crap. We don’t have a proper defensive midfielder. Then our wings are not dropping or are dropping to slow to support the defence. Everyone is counter attacking us on the wings and are man marking our central midfielders, waiting for our cb’s or Maignan to fk it up. There is a lack of ambition and support between our players. Everyone is playing for himself, except very few players. Lyon lost with Fonseca 2 games(psg and marseille) out of the last 9, scoring a bunch of goals and we were not happy with him. Can’t you just see that our players are the main reason of our downfall.

Atalanta have quality players, a strong defence and also, there is no pressure there as it is by Milan. Again Gasperini is there since 2016 and they were about to sack him this season after the worse start since he’s there. 2 wins in the first 7 games. Before Atalanta he has coached inter for 2 months and he got sacked because of the bad results. A coach needs continuity, needs time. We threw fonseca out and now we are talking about conceicao replacement, but no one says anything about the players. Pioli had Kessie, Brahim, Tonali and Leao with Theo were in their prime. We didn’t manage to cover the lost of Brahim Diaz until today and the cover ups for Tonali are all bad. Beside that, Pioli lost the locker room in the last season and normally he should have been long gone since we finished 5th and we got the 4th spot thanks to juve deduction. The title was more a present from merda as it was something won by us. We droped a lot of points against weak relegation teams with Pioli, Fonseca and now Conceicao. How can you justify that? The players are not involved. They play good and they give all only when they want, when they play against big teams. There are groups in our team as you saw in Florence. There is no team, because there are so many bad charachters in there. You can bring Guardiola, Ancelotti or Klopp, it doesn’t matter. First they have to clean the locker room. You can’t just talk about replacing the coach everytime the team plays bad. You have the best examples with rome this season and napoli last season. This season is gone. We can’t save anything. They have to give Conceicao more time.
No please is to early to call max Allegri so I presume after conceicao gives us 3rd place I prefer we continue with conceicao not Allegri please.

Hire a coach who did not score more than 55 goals in three seasons at Juventus. And that’s what he was looking for in Vlahović, and he had Dybal in the first season, and he had Di Maria and Chiesa.
