Furlani comments on ‘ongoing investigation’ at Milan: “The facts are simple”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani has insisted that the club are cooperating entirely with the authorities, and that they are very much under the control of RedBird Capital.

While Milan have a job to do on the field tonight at the Fortuna Arena against Slavia Praha, it has been a turbulent last 48 hours for the club as all of the headlines have been about the investigation that is being conducted by the Milan Prosecutor’s Office and the Guardia di Finanza.

La Gazzetta dello Sport gave a solid round-up of what we know so far regarding the raid on Casa Milan, while the lawyer Felice Raimondo analysed various aspects of the case that could be brought against the club, expressing doubt.

It is important for the team to be put in a bubble of sorts and to not be distracted by all the corporate uncertainty, and to try and get the job completed in the Czech capital after securing a 4-2 first leg lead in their Europa League last 16 clash.

Furlani spoke to the cameras just before kick-off, and rather than answering multiple questions he gave a single response to the rumours, as relayed by MilanNews.

“There is an ongoing investigation into AC Milan’s ownership. The facts are simple: AC Milan’s owners are RedBird, as has been said several times,” he said.

“The authorities can investigate, we have cooperated with them by giving them all the information they they asked us for. We are focused on our job, which is to make sure that Milan are successful and that the fans are proud of their Club.”
