The news in recent days of Manchester City’s interest in Tijjani Reijnders took a turn for the worst this morning, with a report stating that the English club are ‘hopeful’ of being able to complete a deal with an offer potentially being sent in the coming days.

Since the early stages of the season, Reijnders’ name has been hot on the lips of the European elite, and there is a chance that they look to make a move for him this summer, despite him recently signing a long-term extension.
However, if the money is right, then it may be the last few games we see of Reijnders in a Rossoneri shirt. That is unless Furlani can protect him from the interest.
Today, Luca Bianchin spoke to Milan News about the situation.

“It is clear that Giorgio Furlani will have an important role in this. It will not be a one-man-show, obviously Ibrahimovic and Cardinale will have something to say. They will talk to each other, as has always been the case in these periods, sometimes with collaboration and sometimes with tension. But obviously Furlani will have a lot of say in the matter.
“I feel like saying that there are no unsellable players, but for Reijnders I think it will take an exaggerated offer to convince Milan to think about it.”

It’s funny how majority of the fans spent a year and a half hating on Reijnders, saying that he wasn’t even as good as some inter bench player Frattesi, that Bennacer was better than him 🤣, that he couldn’t defend while Tonali and Bennacer were great defensively, hated on him just because he came in after Maldini was fired
and Tonali asked to be sold to escape his problems, but now they are upset that the best club in the EPL the last 10 years and arguably the best coach of this era wants to buy Reijnders for 70-80 million.
BTW speaking of the false narrative that Bennacer and Tonali are good defensively while Reijnders isn’t, a little fact. So far this season, as bad as Milan has been, and they have been awful, with Reijnders playing in the midfield and his inability to defend and Emerson Royal playing most of the season as a RB, Milan has given up 40 goals in serie A in 36 games. At the same time during the 22/23 season when the “great” defensive midfielders Bennacer and Tonali were roaming Milan’s midfield, without Kessie making them look good, they gave up 42 goals thru 36 games.
Kessie’s merchants were awful defensively but if you tell a lie long enough people will come to believe it.
What happened? Why is everyone so up in arms if Reijnders gets sold? I thought he isn’t even as good as some Marseille or inter back up?
It’s true, he cannot defende. In fact he’s a midfield liabilty when it comes to defending and he’s limited in his vision and passing. But he scores goals. Yes he does. So that makes him what, Kevin Prince Boateng 2.0?
So if all that is true, why are you concerned if Milan sells him?
Also, he isn’t a liability defensively, he is just not good in pressing. But he is where he is supposed to be defensively.
Milan midfield is just as bad defensively as it was when Tonali and Bennacer were playing. On the other hand the other 2 midfielders that you consider great defensively are good in the pressing but they are not where they supposed to be position wise defensively. That’s why many of the goals Milan gave up in 22/23 was to opposing team midfielders.
When it comes to his passing and vision i already stated that he is lacking there and I would absolutely sell him for 70-80m. But that doesn’t mean that midfielders like Frattesi, that you hyped up, Bennacer, that you rated higher, and Tonali are better overall midfielders than Reijnders. They are all flawed in different areas.
I am concerned because this way we will never have consistency and will never achieve what is expected from this club. To compete for titles. You saw what can be done with proper management and construction of the team in just 3 seasons. And what can be done with mismanagement, also in 3 seasons.
Instead of adding missing puzzles to be competitive and creating a team, they are doing the opposite. It’s destructive and toxic and that’s already evident.
Let’s see if I got this right.
You are not a fan of Reijnders, you think he is a liability defensively, can’t pass and lack vision in his game. You basically describing a mediocre, downright bad midfielder. If that’s what you believe, then why would you wanna keep him and build consistency with such a poor midfielder, according to your belief? Makes no sense. Are you satisfied with mediocrity? Just because he is a down to earth guy, who is a great professional? Why wouldn’t you take the money, which is more than double that he is worth?
Even though I like Reijnders, just like every Milan player, I see his flaws and limitations and I would absolutely sell him, because I can replace him with the money and strengthen other areas of the team.
I mean it should be clear by now, from all I’ve written, I’d have no problems letting him go for the amount that’s rumored. But we are disrupting the process. Instead of further reinforcing the team, for example, getting a defensive coverage for Reijnders who lacks in that aspect, they’re stripping it.
And I don’t trust these clowns to get it right on the market replacing him and further reinforcing the team, with this kind of money.
And to add, no I am not a fan of Reijnders due to already explained above. But he’s a down to earth lad, a true professional who suffers for this team and is finally settled. Now, if this really goes through, they will again disrupt the process while giving the rest of the team a clear signal. You’re worth only as much as we can pocket from you.
Why are you even explaining/replying to Z? People with common sense here are attacked by those…just ignore them. I don’t see any hope for Milan in future with this management.
Somewhere in Spain according to one of the articles I read this morning, Deco has decided to retain the club’s best players in other to build up a formidable team that would last for years to come and add more titles to their title cabinet but here in Italy Furlani and Co are busy looking for a way to sell their star players. Assuming Lamine Yamal is a Milan player I’m very certain that the management would have been pondering on selling him too. Management with no vision

I would be listening to offers that get us Tonali back. Depending on the new coach and the formation, in a double pivot, in a 4-2-3-1, or a 3-4-3, Tonali would be more valuable.
We need to get Ricci in all senarios. But in a 4-3-3, we would have Reinders, Ricci and Tonali. But to do that, we need to sell Leao instead.
ManU are ready to offer 100M€ for Tonali so I doubt we’ll see him in Milan for the next 6-7 years.
