Furlani outlines Milan’s season objectives and says that ‘we’re all focusing on the market’

AC Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani has discussed what AC Milan’s objectives are for the new campaign and stressed the importance of the transfer market this summer.

Speaking to the press as part of Milan’s return to Milanello for pre-season (as seen in the video below), Furlani spoke calmly about what Milan are aiming to achieve this season as it is the same as what they aim to achieve every season.

“The season begins. The objectives for this season are the same as always, for the last five years, that is since I’ve been here: to be competitive in Italy and in Europe. We’re all focusing on the market, but the work is also on the organisational level, on the infrastructure, on the level of making Milan grow in various ways and in a solid way,” Furlani said.

Milan will be in the Champions League once again but it will be very hard to beat last season’s showing where they made it to the semi-finals. The main aim will be to actually challenge for the Serie A title again.

Given the departures of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara, there has been talk that the project at Milan has gone back to the start. Furlani disagrees with this sentiment, believing that it is all a part of the journey that started five years ago.

“Someone spoke of year zero: this is Milan’s year 124, year zero is not right. It’s an evolution that we started five years ago and we will continue to improve the club and try to get better and better results,” he said.
