Furlani says Milan ‘have a lot of time’ to complete signings: “Not in a rush”

By Isak Möller -

Giorgio Furlani was asked about the mercato during AC Milan’s press conference last night, ahead of the game against Man City at midnight. As always, however, he was very coy and made it clear that the transfer window is long.

Milan have signed just Albvaro Morata this summer and as we get closer to August, the fans were expecting more. While the squad is in a much better position than it was at the start of last summer, getting the signings done early is always beneficial for the pre-season.

During the press conference for Milan-Man City last night, the Milan CEO Furlani said a few words about the mercato and assured that the directors are working on the matter. However, they are in no rush to complete any deals, as transcribed by Matt Santangelo of Milan Reports.

“Last summer, we had to completely overhaul the squad because it wasn’t the squad we wanted. This summer, it’s different. We are more tactical and more patient and not in a rush. We signed our number nine which was an important addition.

“For the rest, we don’t really comment on exact names. We look at a lot of players and potential additions. The market ends at the end of August and we have a lot of time,” he stated.

It remains to be seen if we will see some signings in the next two weeks, with both Strahinja Pavlovic and Emerson Royal being very close as per the latest reports. At this point, it is almost needed to calm down the fans.

  1. Sure… The mercato ends in August but the season starts before that and “merging” the new signings into the team will take time too. That’s advantage to our competitors (mainly Juve & Inter) whose team is basically complete already and ready for action.

  2. Not sure if signing Emerson would calm the fans..

Personally, I don’t care if Morata is the only signing we’d make. But, IMHO, there’s nothing that screams TACTICAL regarding the pursuit of Emerson Royal. But what do I know.

  3. The issue for me is not that we should rush but rather we must not waste energy and time trying when we won’t put up the right effort. Be more efficient, don’t be teasing around just because there is more time. If you prefer to wait then completely stop making offers, as only when there’s need for rush that you’d act, then “rush”to buy all the players on the last day of the window.

  4. The earlier the signing, the better for the Coach to integrate them into the team and help him form his Starting X1 for the season and his tactical balance.

Last season Chukwueze came in at the close of the season, so also Musah, Pellegrino and Jovic, it was difficult for the integrate with Pioli system…. The earlier the better.

  5. Furlani knows zero about ⚽ and everyone should be happy when this bootlicking errand boy leaves our beloved club.

I’d argue his business accumen is also poor.
Spend money to make money is a real thing but this clown forgets.

Look up Aesop’s Amnesia and you’ll know everything you need to know about this Fool.

Come August 31st if there’s still no #6 or dramatic improvements to the squad (i.e..not emerson royal) there should be a full on revolt against him. This cannot stand as is.

    1. Last season I made a meme video titled “Furlani negotiating for players” and it was a cutout where Brad is trying to introduce his name and pronounce Gorlami🤣 I posted in some other AC Milan related site.

  6. They said the same thing in January, and we only ended up signing Jovic. We didn’t sign a defender to help, or someone in the middle. Bennacer wasn’t himself again when he came back from injury, same with Tomori and Thiaw. We lost the league by a wide margin because the directors felt they had done enough at the summer transfer. Sometimes, we blame coaches, but, a lot of times, if they don’t have the right resources to work with, why should we expect so much from them. They are not magicians. I still remember the Champions league semifinal first leg game with Inter in 2023. Bennacer got injured, and, the coach didn’t know who to bring in. Now, we have a coach who is not fantastic, and yet, we are dragging our feet to get players for him. What results do you expect from the first few league matches next month, when we have not gotten the players to fit in?

  7. Sure, sign ’em late and expect’ em and Fonseca to do wonders🤦

At first I was against Fonseca but now I just feel sorry for him.

  8. Sure, sign them late and expect them to perform miracles🤦

At first I was against Fonseca but now I just feel sorry for him.

  9. Well i dont mind if ACM only bring 3 player like morata , pavlovic ( still in process) , fofana or other strong physical DMF But make it fast for pre season preparation, who care about other target like lazar, fullkrug, emerson all of that three not important and just for depth

  10. I don’t know, pal. We’re a month into it with only one prudent, pivoted signing… and a lot of plan B’s.

    Hope this thing comes together.

  11. Of course there is no rush when you don’t want to spend a lot of $$$$$

Same pattern yet again. We have a 35M transfer budget – so we will wait for what’s left over from all the good players. Barton’s and discounts.

He’ll we can’t even use CDK $$ because that idiot Furlani negotiated a deal that we don’t get paid until 2025 LOLOLO. Brilliant. We only got Morata because he cost 13M. Had he been 30-40M we’d still be looking for a #9. And ppl think we are a big club under Redbird? Keep dreaming.

Fofana is gone. We can’t even spend 20M for a starting 25yr old DM that we desperately need – and the Redbird lovers claim Gerry wants to win???
For a club with so many restrictive policies: wage cap; transfer cap of 20M per player; youth policy; agent cap, etc…you would think that when a player like Fofana comes along that satisfies all of your restrictions (20M transfer fee; 3M year salary; no issue w agents; 25yrs old w national team experience) – you wouldn’t hesitate to snap him up right – if the intention was to win titles??

Ya right. Gerry wants to keep his profits for his investors – as long as we are “competitive” (as Fulani said) and qualify for UCL he’s happy cause he keeps that profit margin. If we happen to win a coppa along the way – cool – it’s just icing on the cake – if not all good.

    Embarassing

      1. Learn what donkey? We finished 16 points off first place; got knocked out in Coppa Italia; failed to make it out of group stages of UCL despite reaching semi-finals the year before and; got trounced by Inter in both derby’s.

We had a NET spend of 35M last season kid. Learn math before you come an attempt to attack me. The rest was from Tonali sale. That is NOT the same as spending 100M. If we are going to sell a star player each season to fund our transfer campaign we are going nowhere. If we have a transfer cap of 15M per player – we are going nowhere.

        Wake up bra

  12. Furlani is the greatest idiot and clown rolled into one who was ever involved in the milan management.
He should have a shave and a shower and go to sell goldfish in a pet shop and disappear for ever from milan.
