TMW: Furlani ‘not convinced’ by Tare despite new meetings – the idea in mind

Igli Tare seems the most likely sporting director to arrive at AC Milan, simply due to the variables. However, he is not the most desired option, it seems.

There have been several names attached to the vacant sporting director post, but there have only been a few names that have convinced everyone. For example, Fabio Paratici was a heavy favourite, whilst names like Markus Krösche have appeared infrequently in proceedings.

For Tare, his name has been regularly linked to the post, but there has always seemed to be an issue with his candidacy, as we recently detailed. Unfortunately, this is only continuing to be the case, despite new meetings taking place.

As Marco Conterio writes for Tuttomercatoweb on X, Giorgio Furlani is still ‘not convinced’ by the candidate, with it remaining to be seen if he can get over his issues and offer him the job.

If the problems are too great to ignore, Tony D’Amico is still the preference, despite his refusal of the job so far. However, the Milan CEO remains in contact with Percassi over D’Amico’s situation, which hints at the dream not being dead just yet.

There is a lot left to be decided in the hunt for a new sporting director, indeed, but if Tare is appointed, it feels like it won’t be natural at this point, but rather a case of settling for who is available.

  1. Tare is not favoured but he’s the cheapest option out there. That’s the only reason they need. As usual.

Not a bad option in my opinion. Better then Paratici, who I somehow couldn’t imagine to develope a relationship with players.

    1. If it was going to be Tare, they would have signed him already. I bet that come June we’ll still not have a DS, despite all of the “urgency” and needing to have a DS than can “get to work right away”. Then, suddenly, on July 20, the day Paratici’s ban ends, they’ll announce the signing of Paratici. Because that’s how we operate.

      1. If Paratici comes, then this was a decision taken solely by Furlani, without consulting with “the team” he likes to preach about so much. I bet he’s not fond of Tare because Ibra proposed him to Gerry and this little b*tch with inferiority complex is jealous.

      2. Nah they’re just waiting for the season to end and then it will be D’Amico or Sartori.

If it was gonna be Tare it would be done by now.

No chance they wait until July.

  2. Watch…months of “who will it be?”… it will be no one, they will decide the current set up is working fine. “We got to a cup final” after all.

  3. Much rather have Tare then chase someone who doesn’t arrive until it’s too late and have another summer based on vibes…
