AC Milan, this afternoon, confirmed the signing of Igli Tare as the new sporting director of the Rossoneri. Here is everything they had to say.

As of this evening, Milan have now entered a new era. One where the Rossoneri seemingly have aspirations of becoming a ‘protagonist in Italy and Europe’, as they were before. The starting point for this is, of course, the appointment of Igli Tare.

The Albanian sporting director was announced after months of back and forth, and in the club’s statement, he stated the following:

“Joining a Club like Milan is a source of great pride and responsibility. I thank the club for entrusting me with this role. The club knows my great determination and my desire to do well by putting all my experience at the service of a great Club that has the absolute objective of returning to being a protagonist in Italy and Europe.”

He was not the only one to offer thoughts on the move, with Giorgio Furlani also adding to the sentiments. The CEO has led the process of his hiring, after Gerry Cardinale restructured the management.

“We are delighted to welcome Igli Tare into the Rossoneri family. He is the right choice to start over from: his expertise, determination and strong values, combined with a solid knowledge of Italian football and an international vision, make him the ideal figure to contribute to the Club’s relaunch through the development of an ambitious sporting project.”

It is worth noting that the new sporting director will ‘report to the club’s CEO’ as it is explicitly stated in the statement. Considering Furlani offered a warning prior to his arrival, this is only further cementing this idea.

  1. So much for autonomy.

Sounds like Tare is already set up to be a potential scapegoat of things don’t improve. Except we know they won’t improve because the same people are still in charge.

  2. It seems that his role will not be to lead the sporting side of the project, but to “assist” the “management”.

  3. Honestly the sooner this ” project” is burned to the ground the better.
No self respecting sporting director, coach or player would come near this sh1t show

    Redbird OUT

Get in an owner who leaves the running of the club to a competent professional

    1. I agree the only players and coaches that we are going to get are the ones that no big team wants. Hopefully, next year, we will end up 13th or 14th in the standings and Cardinale will be forced to sell. We should help this by not purchasing season tickets, not attend San Diro matches, and by not buying the merchandise.

  4. It took Furlani 4 months to cinfirm the first choice already agreed by Ibra and Cardinals. Now he is emphasing that he reports to him, well you are the efin CEO no? I think you ha e a sindrom of little wee wee my friend. No CEO needs to state the obvious, and besides why waste 4 months. By now without any need for the above we would know the next coach and possibly have clarity on next transfer window that is crucial for us and the future identity of Milan.

  5. furlani always take months to make any decision. the other club already start on the next season with their project. furlani still studying what’s the project should be…. that’s how slow milan under his management is.

  7. Milan protagonist team under RedBird for next season:

    Sportiello
    Emerson Tomori Pavlo Terraciano
    Musah Bondo RLC
    Chuk Jovic Okafor

  8. Tare reporting to Furlani is not an issue. He would have to report to somebody in any case, so it is logical.
The question is would he be in charge of the project or just be a puppet?

    1. I just imagine Tare being a puppet for Furlani. Tare at the end got in clinch with Lotito when he was in Lazio
