It was a tough night for the players to contend with, as they had the obligation to go out and end the campaign with a win against a side that were relegated weeks ago, but all while there were mass protests from the supporters.
On a personal note it was a positive night for Gabbia as he got his second goal of the season and it came via a corner in the 64th minute. In truth it was fairly routine: a whipped delivery to the near post by Chukwueze was nodded in by Gabbia from close range.
Gabbia spoke to DAZN after the game to give his thoughts on what was a difficult night to end an even more difficult season, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
Matteo, your feelings after tonight?
“It was a difficult match in terms of the atmosphere. The responsibility for this is also and above all ours. The season was negative for everyone, it’s a good thing that it’s over.
“The quality of this team is great, there are many important players. We are very sorry for the fans. Now we have to learn from our mistakes and start again immediately.”
Can you be like Napoli next season, without Europe?
“We would have preferred to play in European competitions obviously. Next year we will have three competitions and we will have to do well in all of them. We must be compact and move forward.”
