There was a late line-up change for Massimiliano Allegri to make just before kick-off against Parma. Gabbia pulled up during the warm-ups with muscle discomfort so he was withdrawn for the starting XI, with Koni De Winter taking his place.
According to MilanNews, Gabbia underwent scans on his injury this morning which ruled out anything serious. The central defender felt a twinge during the pre-match warm-ups, and in agreement with the medical staff it was decided not to take any risks.
Gabbia will now be kept under observation and his condition will be carefully assessed so as not to rush his return. The next game for the Rossoneri is on Sunday against Cremonese away from home, and it remains to be seen whether Gabbia will be back or not.
Despite not playing, Gabbia gave his assessments to Sky after the final whistle: “The evening didn’t start well and ended with a defeat, which is the thing that hurts the most. I, like the whole team, want to send Ruben a big good luck because he’s essential to us and he’s a golden boy. We’re really sorry, we send him a huge hug and we look forward to seeing him soon.”
