Galatasaray and AC Milan are closing in on reaching an agreement over the transfer fee for Rafael Leao at long last.
The Leao saga has dragged on for weeks now, ever since he publicly declared a desire to leave Milan before the World Cup. The amount of concrete offers that arrived have perhaps not been what he hoped, and thus the chances of the winger staying were growing.

Despite this, in the past 48 hours there have been a flurry of stories about launches and relaunches from various clubs. After Aston Villa made a bid and Spurs entered the running, it is Galatasaray that seem to have sprung back into life.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update which suggests that things are moving in the right direction and that Galatasaray might get their man after all.
“Galatasaray are closing in on club to club agreement for Rafael Leão for €45m deal with details being discussed. Agreement on personal terms also needed with talks taking place with his camp. Galatasaray are pushing to get the deal done,” he said.
It appears therefore that things have moved on substantially compared to a few hours ago, when Matteo Moretto declared that the Turkish club were ‘not even close’ to Milan’s demands regarding the fee.
If it’s 45 mil + bonuses, it’s all good.
Next: Gimenez, Tomori, Fofana. Hopefully Estu as well.

1. We let players leave for free, we complain.
2. We sell our players, either for profit or balancing the books regardless, we still complain that we are a selling club, aka Atalanta.
3. We keep our best asset, being patient with him despite the downward spiral, and his value decreases – they stall complain that we should have sold him since 2023.
4. Now, we decide to cash in on him, same old recycled complain pops up again – “we are a selling club”.

We have a pretty slow attack all of a sudden with Leao and Nkunku leaving. Especially if they’re replaced with something like Harvey Elliot or Koopmeiners.
We do, but we also have a tactic which relies on camping on the opposition area and moving the ball around. Being able to work in tight spaces is more important. I think in Amorim’s setup, speed of the defenders is important, which is where we lack it more.
Because headless chicken attacks always work don’t they? Leao doesn’t even try by the way. Disappears most of the game.
We had the speed but never took advantage of it. It’s also hard to rely on speed with low block Serie A teams.
Amorim’s tactics rely on overloading from wide areas hence the wingback importance and attacking roles (Chuk, Saele, Moreira)
