AC Milan rounded off 2021 in the right way as they ran out 4-2 winners against Empoli at the Stadio Carlo Castellani on Wednesday night.
The Rossoneri took advantage of Napoli’s slip-up at home against Spezia to jump back above them in the table and remain four points behind city rivals and league leaders Inter. The goals came via a Franck Kessie brace, an Alessandro Florenzi free-kick and Theo Hernandez’s close-range strike. Below is how the papers reacted…
La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Christmas in Milano, it’s more and more a derby for the Scudetto. Milan net four. No Ibra? Here’s Kessie. Pioli, four goals in Empoli and second place alone.”
Il Corriere dello Sport: “Only Milan hang in there: 4-2 at Empoli. Pioli remains four points off the top, Spalletti slips to -7.”
Tuttosport: “Milan are back, Napoli crumble. 4-2 at Empoli, Pioli remains at -4.”
