Gallery: ‘Leao brings €175m’, ‘Pioli divorce’ – Today’s front pages in Italy

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are preparing for the final game of the season, which will be the proper farewell for Olivier Giroud, Simon Kjaer and Stefano Pioli among others. Naturally, the newspapers are also quite focused on the upcoming summer mercato.

Milan have communicated their decision to Pioli and the two will part ways at the end of this season, with a mutual contract termination expected. The manager has not made life difficult for the Rossoneri, despite having a year left on his contract, and for that he deserves praise.

Today’s newspapers focused on the departure of Pioli but also on the summer mercato, with concrete interest from abroad in two stars of the team. Indeed, it will be very interesting to see what the future holds for Milan.

The headlines

Gazzetta dello Sport

👋 “Agreement between Milan and Pioli for the divorce. Tomorrow he will be celebrated at San Siro.”

👀 “And Fonseca is getting closer.”

Tuttosport

😬 “Theo-Leao: the left flank of Milan is at risk. Bayern are pushing and there is an offer from Saudi.”

👊 “The Rossoneri will try to keep them, but a renewal agreement must be reached with the left-back.”

Corriere dello Sport

🔁 “Milan are changing: Pioli to part ways. Leao brings €175m!”

👀 “Contract termination for the manager. Al Hilal are willing to pay Leao’s release clause.”

  1. At this point we should substitute the number on players’ jersey with a price tag so it would be more convenient for other teams to shop.

    1. “We’d be dumb to turn down 175 mil for Leao.”

Actually. As there is the release clause Milan has no say in the matter. If someone comes knocking on the door with the sum, it’s Leao alone who decides. Not Gerry, not Zlatan, not Furlani etc. Leao alone (with his greedy agents).

    2. Tonalli Is easily top 3 in Italy
Theo Is the best LB in the world.
Leao is top 5 in his position( when he feels like it)

We have to travel to 2007-2010 to see a Milan that had top players.

We are financially stable, we only need players. Why do Milan need to sell? Please elaborate

      1. Remember when Liverpool sold Suarez and then Coutinho for massive amounts? Then went on to win a bunch of trophies.
If the money is wisely spent we can do the same

  2. For Leao’s money, we can buy Bungiorno+Zirkzee+Sesko 🔥
But most likely board will sign 20 million gamble players

  3. Is it really possible that Leao will throw his career like this? I mean it will be MF sweet to fantasize about getting 175M for him, but is it really happening?

    1. “Is it really possible that Leao will throw his career like this?”

Let’s put it this way: Who is the player in the Milan squad to be the most likely to jeopardize becoming a legend and ruin his promising career for easy money? Giroud? MM16? Pulisic? Calabria? I think we all would be saying the same name here.

  4. I think Leao still has a lot to prove and would want to stay in Europe’s top tier (maybe a Man C, PSG, Real would sway him). If that door opens he might be tempted to leave, not sure the petrodollars will do the trick…so I am not losing sleep over this story.
