Milan took part in their fifth friendly clash of the pre-season last night, facing Real Madrid in Austria. The game ended 0-0 and didn’t offer that much entertainment, but the intentions were still positive.
The Rossoneri hit the post once and also had a few other chances to find the back of the net. However, as they failed, the big hero was Mike Maignan. The goalkeeper came to the rescue with a penalty save in the first half, keeping the score at 0-0.
On their front page, Gazzetta Dello Sport wrote the following: “Milan, 0-0 against Real Madrid. Maignan saves a penalty Gigio-esque. Tuttosport had some praise for the team and Maignan as well: “Beautiful Milan! Maignan is superb, good test in Klagenfurt”.
Corriere Dello Sport also had a very similar headline for the game: “Milan, Maignan the protagonist. Level with Real Madrid”.
