Gallery: ‘Milan go haywire’, ‘VAR saves Milan’ – Today’s front pages in Italy

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan failed to protect their two-goal lead as they drew 2-2 against Lecce on Saturday afternoon. As expected, they were criticised by the newspapers this morning, highlighting yet another collapse for the Rossoneri.

The first half was very joyful for Stefano Pioli’s men as Olivier Giroud and Tijjani Reijnders got on the scoresheet. As soon as Lecce got their first goal in the second half, however, the mood quickly changed and the home side managed to snatch a point in the end.

For Milan, it was yet another 2-0 lead at half-time squandered (after the Napoli game) and Pioli has been heavily criticised for his management by the fans. He will certainly head into the international break with a lot to think about.

On the front page, Gazzetta dello Sport wrote the following: “Milan, there is a serious alarm. Leao injured, Giroud sent off. And another lead squandered.”

Tuttosport: “Reassembled and then rescued, Milan go haywire. Pioli under scrutiny. Lecce anger, VAR finds a foul on Thiaw and denies the home side.

Corriere dello Sport: “VAR saves Milan: Lecce’s 3-2 winner disallowed. Sansone and Banda respond to Giroud and Reijnders.”
