Gallery: ‘Milan pride’, ‘Bitter start for Pioli’ – Today’s front pages of Italian papers

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan failed to collect any points at Anfield last night as Liverpool won the clash by three goals to two. The Rossoneri were in the lead at the break but failed to hold on in the final 45 minutes.

As many have pointed out already, it was a necessary experience for Stefano Pioli’s men, who still have a long way to go. Playing in the Champions League is very different and they will have to get used to the high tempo.

On their front page this morning, Gazzetta Dello Sport wrote the following: “So it hurts. Bitter start for Pioli. Milan suffered but overturned Liverpool, then Salah unleashed the comeback”.

Tuttosport wrote this on their front page: “Milan pride. KO against Liverpool but with their heads held high”. Corriere Dello Sport had the following: “Champions immediately bitter for the Milanese”.

  1. it is still a great result for milan young lad
that milan have stung liverpool back
milan back to italy with their head held high
next time will get better and better…
    forza milan…..

  2. Ok, so we lost. Most of the blame lies squarely on the double pivot. They were out of synch all the time. They seemed unfit, their movement off the ball pathetic and passing? Disastrous. We need a lot of improvement in the department going forward…
