AC Milan failed to extend their winning run last night as Atalanta prevailed 2-1 at Gewiss Stadium. While it was due to a late goal, the Rossoneri’s display was far from good enough, with the home side’s dominance highlighted by the papers.
After beating Slovan Bratislava, Empoli and Sassuolo, Fonseca wanted to make it four consecutive wins against a strong Atalanta side. However, despite the 1-1 result late into the game, they eventually lost 2-1 and got the Scudetto hopes ripped out of their hands.
As highlighted by the Italian newspapers on the front pages today, Atalanta are now in first place and extended their winning run to nine games (!). Milan, meanwhile, are sinking in the standings and are finding life very difficult at the moment.
