AC Milan and Inter will leave the iconic San Siro stadium after a sale was approved in the early hours of this morning.
There has been a lot of nerve regarding the future of the iconic stadium. However, with a deal agreed this morning, the clubs will hope to get things properly underway in the next few months. After all, work could begin in less than 18 months.

Of course, this means that the end of the San Siro as we know it is nearing, and for many, this was a reason to stop the clubs from buying the land and stadium. However, it would have become more of a burden than anything had it not been sold.
Galliani on San Siro
Many iconic figures have become immortalised in the stadium, and Adriano Galliani, the former CEO of Milan, saw many of them arrive and leave.
With rumours spiralling around him and a return, today he commented on the move to a new San Siro when speaking to tuttomercatoweb.com, as MilanNews relays.
“I am very happy with this wise decision by the City Council, which allows a city like Milan, already at the forefront in many sectors, to be so in this too, with the construction of a new stadium.
“I am very attached to San Siro and have always defended it, but the Meazza is almost 100 years old and no longer has the characteristics for UEFA matches. It is very good that a decision like this was made.”

They have the data to show the match day tickets sold each week. It doesn’t feel like the stadium needs to have a lower capacity than current and when you consider hospitality too…
Considering how the budget is planned, I can’t imagine a higher capacity would have made a huge difference considering the additional revenue they could expect to gain.
Once ticket prices increase, which will increase further due to supply/demand that this decision causes, fans will not be pleased.
