Galtier responds to ‘flattering’ links with Milan: “They chose Lopetegui”

By Isak Möller -

Christophe Galtier has been mentioned as an option in AC Milan’s pursuit of a new manager and in a recent interview, he responded to these links. However, he made it clear that he hasn’t had any contact with the club.

The Frenchman was briefly mentioned as a concrete option for Milan but in the last week or so, his candidacy has certainly faded. The Rossoneri are focused on other profiles, with Sergio Conceicao now in pole position, and the 57-year-old appears to be out of the running.

Speaking to L’Equipe, as cited by Gazzetta dello Sport, Galtier was asked about the recent Milan links. However, he made it clear that there hasn’t been any contact, also saying that he thought the Rossoneri had secured Lopetegui.

“It’s flattering, even if I haven’t spoken to the directors. But I understand that they chose Lopetegui,” he stated.

As said, Conceicao seems to be the strongest candidate for now and in the coming days, he should have a meeting with Porto to define the future. Milan are watching on with great interest and could then make a serious move.

    1. For me also he is not that bad. Even most of the Milan fans dont like him. He did good work at Sevilla, Spain Nationalteam and Wolverhampton. The only team he didnt succes was Real. But if he was that bad Real wouldnt hire him that time. Even that team was not that good as it is now or before. but we will see how he will work at West ham
