‘No game plan, disjointed departments’ – Longoni slams Pioli after Lazio display

Stefano Pioli is expected to leave AC Milan at the end of the season, with Gerry Cardinale eyeing big changes for the club, and it’s a decision that most Rossoneri fans will back. The ‘good and right’ thing, as Andrea Longoni highlights.

Milan clinched three crucial points in the game against Lazio last night, scoring the winner in the 88th minute through Noah Okafor. However, the Rossoneri didn’t play that well and struggled for most of the games, sometimes even after Lazio’s red card.

In his latest editorial for Calciomercato.com, the journalist Andrea Longoni discussed the performance of Milan, expressing his disappointment with above all Pioli. In his eyes, parting ways with the manager is a good thing for the club.

“The three points were crucial, but Milan didn’t play well. The first half was terrible, in the second things went a little better, also taking advantage of the numerical superiority which, however, wasn’t evident at times. No game plan, disjointed departments, midfield in difficulty: I miss the displays we saw in the Scudetto season and partly last season.

“I don’t understand how anyone can be satisfied with this game. There was an excellent performance against Atalanta, but definitely not yesterday. In London, Cardinale announced that Pioli and Milan will part ways in the summer, this seems to be a good and the right thing to me,” he stated.

Milan will take on Slavia Praha in the Europa League on Thursday and a strong performance is needed, similar to what we saw against Stade Rennes at home. Then, at the weekend, the Rossoneri will be up against Empoli in the league.
