Gian Piero Gasperini has appeared on AC Milan’s list of head coach options ahead of the summer, and the Italian has sent a warning to Atalanta.
In recent years, there are few coaches who have done better than Gasperini. The Italian has consistently overachieved with his Atalanta team, and this season, they have taken the next step: becoming a title contendor.

Of course, they began to drop off towards the end of the season. However, for at least half of the campaign, there was a real chance they could be involved in the Scudetto finale.
Gasperini has admitted that La Dea would struggle to replicate this season, though, and as a result, he has sent a warning to the club when speaking to ANSA (via Milan News) last night after their final game of the season.
“It will be very difficult to repeat ourselves. A seemingly normal goal like reaching the Champions League is really very complicated, I think. This is what we need to discuss with the club: if we need to stay at these levels, I don’t think I’m capable of guaranteeing it anymore, also because I have the feeling that some important players are leaving.
“This time we have lined up many big teams. I was convinced that we could raise the bar, only Inter, in my opinion, was stronger. I don’t know if lowering the bar will be accepted or not, beyond the contracts, which are the last thing on my mind.
“Kolasinac is injured, Kossounou and Posch are not yet at Atalanta, Scalvini will return after a period of inactivity like Scamacca, then there are some starters who it is not certain will stay. It is enough to be clear: the objectives are not as obvious as they appear.”
Considering Igli Tare likes the head coach and has him on the shortlist, it may be a vulnerability that Milan can try to take advantage of…

Don’t. Take. Gasp.
His system takes forever to learn and he can’t manage strong personalities. Just ask Lookman and Paul Gomez.
I would be very happy to see him in ACM,
perhaps with Davide Ancelotti as his assistant
Every head coach has their own coaching staffs and assistance.
And talking about Davide Ancelotti. what are his achievement as a coach we cant just dream with the name he carries alone.
It doesn’t always work like that. at least not for a giant club in size of Milan
I agree – I don’t want Gasp. He’d blow up the place within 3 months guaranteed…
He would be better suite for Inter considering that Saudi Al Hilal wants him.
He’s an overachiever with Atalanta but there’s no guarantee he’ll replicate same success at Milan with all the pressures it comes with.
I just wouldn’t be take him for the fact that how many years does he have left as a coach? Up there in age and he’s a coach who plays an offensive set up with three defenders. It would take too much time before it starts to gel. If Conte is available, go all in for him. He’s shown he can instantly win and we have more sprnding power than napoli did.
Milan currently play with 3 man defense in the last quarter of the season and i can say this is when we really see the best of the team. The formation doesn’t always count . play good football , don’t lose matches and bring home trophies
he has enough years to set this club back on track
I wish Milan sign this great coach
Gasp needs a year or two of quiet time with the team to get his team to be what he wants it to be. The expectations at big clubs are not congruent with that unfortunately
Milan already has a lot of potential
This summer is a rare year no major international tournaments thank to the club world cup. Which we are not in.
If ever there was a good time to get a coach that needs time, it is now.
They would actually get a solid amount of time with the whole squad.
Sadly our dithering management will no doubt squander the opportunity.
They’ve already wasted precious weeks appointing Tare as SD.
Bring him please he’s the best coach around
People who leave Atalanta usually don’t succeed elsewhere…
At Milan, fans are cannot wait for 2 seasons without trophy. That is what he has in Atalanta. I think it Will be another midseason replacement if we are gong with him. Even im glad if this is going happen
Milan need to spend good money, buy top players and appoint top coach, Milan are lacking the confidence the fans once had, the management should do the needful
