Lazio are looking for a striker and the list of names they’re monitoring is already extensive, but Santiago Gimenez’s can be added.
According to Il Messaggero (via Calciomercato.com), Lazio want to give Gennaro Gattuso a new striker. John Kennedy seems to be the top pick today, but negotiations with Fluminense are stalling, and so the Biancocelesti are evaluating other options.

Roberto Piccoli and Andrea Pinamonti are two solutions that the Lazio board are also evaluating, but neither of them particularly excite Gattuso. In fact, the new Biancoceleste coach believes that the ideal profile is that of Santiago Gimenez.
The Mexican has struggled a lot at Milan, especially in the season that has just ended (also due to injuries). He scored just one goal in the Coppa Italia and none in Serie A, also firing a blank in the home World Cup and picking up another ankle issue.
He scored 65 goals in 105 appearances over two and a half years at Feyenoord, which has Gattuso convinced that Gimenez’s characteristics would be perfect for his game. However, the capital club have to operate with zero funds on the market.
The only way to land Gimenez, the paper adds, is to reach an agreement with Milan for a loan deal. Even with an opening from the Rossoneri, they would still have to take into account the Mexican’s salary which is €2.5m net per season.
The big-money signing of Gonçalo Ramos means that Gimenez would be a back-up at best for Amorim. However, Milan are seeking a permanent sale that would allow them to recoup the €30m investment they made to snatch him from Feyenoord.
As the weeks go by, Milan’s stance could soften and other options could be considered, such as a loan with an option or obligation to buy. Only if that occurs do Lazio have any hope of satisfying Gattuso’s wishes.

We dream of that as well, let him take Musah and Tomori too although I don’t think Fik’s profile is in play when it comes to the departures to Lazio LOL
Take him on loan and let’s see how healthy and firing he will become. I still believe he has the mighty.
Musah and now Gimenez…. And people still call this guy a great coach…
I understand Musah as he coach him at Valencia and made him DM, fairly effectively might I add…. not sure about Giminez but I think they’re looking for a striker as both Noslin and Dia aren’t really that great.
I don’t understand how this guy keeps getting coaching jobs. This is the problem with Serie A , they just keep recycling the same old coaches. DO a bad job at one team just move to the next team, fail there, on to the next team. Allegri gets sacked at Juventus, comes to Milan gets sacked after one season and here is Napoli, can’t wait to snatch him up. It’s bewildering.
Gimenez needs to find somewhere he can start in an attacking team. This might provide that. I think he’s a good forward but he needs to get confidence back and it won’t be here, so a loan sounds like the best solution all around. Obviously won’t get the ~9M he costs per year but if it’s a dry loan he might come back more valuable.
Help us Gatuso help.
Please take him
Grande Gattuso ! Liberaci da questo Bidone enorme!
Take it gattuso, both yunus musah and gimenez. Both still have salary that lazio can pay ( below 4m euro nett / year including bonuses). Maybe gattuso can bring the best from this two and helping them increase value., after all it is just loan with option to buy and we all know that lazio wont use that option
