Gazidis recalls Milan memory as his ‘most iconic sporting moment’

By Oliver Fisher -

Former AC Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis has recalled just how crazy the celebrations were in the city after the 2021-22 Scudetto win.

It was confirmed last year that Gazidis would conclude his time with the club when his contract ran out on December 5. He joined the club as CEO in December 2018 and has been at the centre of the improvement made both on and off the pitch during the Elliott Management ownership.

He is yet to take up another role yet, but in the meantime the reins have passed to Giorgio Furlani who was on the board during his tutelage and has already taken on a very active role in transfers.

Gazdis gave an interview to Business of Sport and an excerpt of it has emerged ahead of the full reveal, which showed him speaking about the chaos in the streets of Milano after the title win.

“The most iconic sporting moment I’ve been involved in for me remains winning the Scudetto with Milan. The images of the party in the streets of the city fail to describe what it really was. All of Milan was closed, and we couldn’t move with the coach,” he said (via PianetaMilan).

“Five hours to cover just over a kilometre, and we concluded in Piazza del Duomo, in the centre. Anyone who has been there that day will never forget it for the rest of their life.”
